Oxford Children's Thesaurus

Great little book; perfect for kids

Arrived earlier than expected, all good.

As I expected Oxford quality is great.

For background, I homeschool my two children ages 5 and 8. We use a blend of styles, mainly Classical, Charlotte Mason with a little Montessori sprinkled in. I ordered this Thesaurus for my 8 year old who is in the equivalent of 3rd grade.It’s a very well made book, sturdy and colorful. The words it does contain are well defined and have several good synonyms and usually at least one antonym. However, the problem we have is that it is very abridged. Too abridged for us to be able to use it as our sole thesaurus for school. It doesn’t contain the words “rustle” or “roosted” for example, which I though would be pretty common words for a children’s thesaurus for school. Oh well. My daughter still enjoys using it but be prepared to have an adult thesaurus on hand or have to use the internet to fill in the missing areas.

Who wrote the book

I was expecting more color, drawing and more of a design element to the book. Unfortunately it’s just blue pages with endless lists of words. Not much doing different from an adult thesaurus. Still it’s a thesaurus which is a little easier to understand so it does it’s job.

Good starting book for learning synonyms of the words specifically for younger kids as it includes pictorial representation.

when i go to sleep,i often read this book.this book seems fit for the people struggling with english or who dont bother to give much thought to subtle details.anyways,i like this thesaurus because letters are visible enough and not complicated for learners.but if you really want to learn words accurately,this book might be too rough to meet your needs.
