Review: Checks all the 'want' boxes for me - I really love this book. The grid dots are nice and light -- they don't add unnecessary noise to the overall visual. I'd worried about that. I LOVE the subtle numbered pages, and I am really happy to have four lined content pages (2 sheets, front/back of each). The paper is great -- thin, but not so thin you can't use a fountain pen with it. The paper has a nice hand to it -- reminds me of Moleskin paper a tiny bit. Still not quite that good but still really nice. Just like most paper, Sharpie markers bleed through to the back. Sharpie colored *pens" do not bleed. Colored pencils actually did pretty well, but there really isn't enough tooth to be doing a lot of layering. My mechanical pencil didn't love the hard slick surface, but a regular 2B did great. Watercolor didn't bleed through, but the paper got predictably wrinkled after getting so wet. This will never be a good dedicated watercolor book, but will hold its own for adding some watercolor bits to a sketch. Tombow pens did okay with it as well. I mostly work in acrylics and collage. There will be a tendency to wrinkle if you don't take some care with first layers. Still and all, this book will be perfect to do my abstracty collages alongside my daily journaling stuff. There's a nice pocket in the back to hold my collage bits.

Decent quality for a budget price. Nothing great, nothing bad. Just good. Until… I recently converted a fountain pen to an eyedropper feed and began writing. Worked flawlessly…until it didn’t. It “burped”” a few times onto the paper. Lots of liquid ink. On the paper soaking in. This paper took it. No bleed though. No ghosting. That’s good stuff. That impressed me. Good paper for fountain pens is subjective. Some feel scratchy others are smooth. Personal preference. But when the paper can withstand an ink “spill” and no major issue (outside of the clean up)…that’s good stuff.

A: It can dither with certain inks.  Pigments and document work best, but the spread isn't impossible to work with.  I've been using nothing but fountains in mine for NaNoWriMo.  There's a little ghosting, but not bleed.

This journal is sturdy, extremely professional, looking for work and does not bleed through its pages. I got the 360 page one this year for work as they use them every year and sometimes run out of pages. It is not much larger, which I was worried about. It’s perfect.
