I was pretty excited to try out the Zingari Man “Watchman” after shave and balm, the description sounded good but there weren’t very many reviews that answered the questions that I had, like what’s the essence of the scent and how well does it take care of the rawness you sometimes feel after a close shave. Well here is my take on it.First, the feel of the balm when it is applied after shaving is excellent. It immediately quells any razor burns and nicks. And though I don’t get many, it’s nice to be assured that the balm will take care of its primary purpose. It goes on very smoothly and feels refreshing.Now to the good part: The Scent (As J Peterman might describe)“You are on your last night of leave before shipping out from Nantucket for 3 months, setting hooks for Cod. The tavern is dank, but there is already a fire warming the late Autumn evening. Your glass of stout is nearly done and with mates’ first call at the crack of dawn, you shrug your Peacoat on over your heavy sweater, empty your mug and ready your pipe for the walk down to your boarding room near the dock.You approach the door, striking a match just as another mariner enters, pulling open the door…At once the sharp and salty sea air embraces your face as the smoke of the tobacco dances on the windy swirl. You feel the bite of the Atlantic waiting, pull up your collar, adjust your cap and with your hands shoved deep in your pockets, you head in for the last good sleep you’ll have until after the catch is made.”

I used to use a sensitive skin lotion after shaving, and it was "fine". After going all in on wetshaving, I figured I might as well get a real aftershave while I was at it. I don't recall how I selected this one, but I'm glad that I did. After using it for a month, I accidentally grabbed the old lotion bottle and OUCH. what had I been doing to myself? No wonder my face was always so red after shaving. I had blamed it on the heat of the shower. Nope. This stuff is great. No crazy scent to give you a headache or suffocate you. Just soothing moisture.

I got the soap and the balm. The sent is amazing it's my favorite but it turns out I'm allergic to fragrance coupled with the palm oil used. I have other shave soaps and balms I don't get same irritation. If you have sensitive skin use at your own risk. I figured out I was allergic to palm because I only have another shave soap that has that and that's Arko. So I know it's not my technique. I use straight razor ( if you were wondering). I do 2 or 3 passes usually. After the 30 to 45 min passes the reaction starts to go away.

Zingari shaving products are ALWAYS fantastic quality and this balm is no different. Nourishing, non-greasy, and fast-drying. My face feels wonderful.The ROYAL scent is very leather-forward. I personally enjoy it very much, but perhaps not the best choice for an office situation, because it is potent and persists for about 2 hours.For the bold however, it is a fantastic and rich scent with strange spices and saddle leather notes that stands out as very unique in an artisan shaving market that has exploded with about every scent conceivable in the last decade.

No scent but works wonderfully. Will buy again.

I've been looking for a good smelling and soothing aftershave balm for a while. I just happened to come across The Royal. I've used other balms with ok results, so I spent a bit of time before settling on this brand. This balm is amazingly smooth, not greasy, smells GREAT, and immediately feels really great. I'll be ordering this brand again!

Not really much to add to the headline. I find that allantonin in aftershaves really helps my face recover. This works well and smells great i find it to be a really nice masculine scent. I'm curious about their others but I don't go through this quickly so it'll be a while if I ever get a chance to try them.

Excellent product. I'll be using this exclusively from now on. I live in Texas. Summer here is oppressively hot. This product cools razor burn and makes it when you perspire your neck doesn't burn.
