That's not to detract from the age range recommendation; I think an 8-year-old would respond well to this book. I was pleasantly surprised at how much she learned and retained from these books. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My daughter loved this book *by J***D on June 30, 2014* My daughter loved this book...Though I suspect, when we ordered it, she still thought the book would be about Queen Elizabeth II, she thoroughly enjoyed this look back to the sixteenth century. So much so, one evening, after we put her to bed, she continued reading (a nightly ritual in our house) for longer than usual to 'finish the story.' My wife and I sort of forgot about her, and found her still reading after 11! This whole series is great fun - I recommend them to anyone with a youngster curious about history and prominent figures. There are just enough challenging words to stretch a young reader's skill without frustrating them and so many teachable moments for a parent.
