Definitely NOT 40x60- Keep Shopping
Just received this monocular. It has a nice feel and seems to be made well. HOWEVER, it has weaker optics than advertised. I fell for the 40 magnification power capability, which is simply not in this one. I have Bushnell 12x42 Binoculars and can see more clearly and closer with them, when viewing the same item and distance, than I can with this Monocular. I recommend that buyers be aware that these are ok for a beginner but there are better options out there. Keep shopping.

4x maybe, poor optics, but at this price :)
First the good. It's compact and a decent scope for field use. Comes with a few extras. More on that later. Very smooth focus, butNow the bad. If you read the title, you're already aware it's not 40x magnification. I've been using telescopes, binoculars, monoculars and microscopes for 40 years, so optics and magnification factors are second nature to me. This scope is missy likely 3x magnification, but I'll be generous and call it 4x. The lense glass is cheap, and by that I mean common glass. The optics are poor at best. The focal point is around 30-40%, and again I'm being generous. This said, keep in mind that with optical instruments, like everything else, you get what you pay for. If you want a true 40x, you'll need to go with a name brand like Meade, but you'll pay $300+.The extras. Don't buy this one for it's extras, they add about $1.35 in value. I would not trust the tripod to support the scope, let alone use the phone attachment and risk my phone. They all feel like something you would get in a child's toy. However, for the price, you really can't go wrong. I bought this for a spotting scope for an upcoming trip overseas because I didn't want to bring, and possible lose a quality one. It does work well for spotting, but if you intend to use this for bird watching, sky watching or anything you need detail, look elsewhere.

Amazon claims that this Monocular comes with a smartphone holder. It does not.
Amazon claims that this Monocular comes with a smartphone holder. It does not. The vendor information that comes with it does not include any reference to a smart phone holder. Amazon description on their site is not accurate. If you want a smartphone holder look elsewhere.

Definitely Not 40x60
This 40x60 monocular is definitely not 40X power. If anything, I'd say somewhere around 16x60 power. So, if you are looking for a power magnification, this one is not for you.Having said that, it was a nice monocular and easy to use. That is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.
