I need to know how to change from 24 hr. mode to 12 hr mode. All other functions are easy to set, but I cannot do this one.

Is there any way the band could be made smaller?

Its easy to adjust the band, it takes 15-20. There are a lot of youtube videos out there to adjust. You unbend the side panels, remove the hooks and adjust accordingly.
