Once this was done, it worked fine though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Advice and First Impressions (And it is 5.1) *by L***N on 18 July 2022* Disclaimer Please read this FULLY at least once before attempting my suggestions. It could look complicated to some, but it's really not. Try locating the locations that I speak about before doing any uninstalling. It will familiarize you with the locations, as well as avoiding any unpleasant surprises if you have a different build of windows from me. If you do happen to have a different build, the buttons and functions may be in different place. The corresponding function(s) will be in your build of win 10 or 11, you will find them if you look. Again, locate them before attempting my suggestions. My aim is to be as detailed as possible, whilst at the same time, keeping it simple. My apologies to those who feel that I am going somewhat into the weeds, so to speak. I am trying to cater to those who may not be experienced with windows as well. I am writing this review / guide in the hope that it may help somebody, somewhere somehow. I am not a computer professional, or an expert by any means. I am what you could call an enthusiast, albeit with 20 years of computer experience. I would also like to add that I do not work for, or have an affiliation with Zexmte or Rankie (Whom I will mention later in this review) whatsoever The following is just my experience. Everybody has varying setups, PCs, hardware and peripherals etc., but generally speaking, following the simple procedures below should work for you as they did for me. Just to be clear, given the variants I have just mentioned, I cannot make any guarantees, other than to say the following worked for me. Hardware, software and Purpose From what I can gather, aside from the hardware prerequisites for installing Window 11, Windows 10 is more or less the same operating system with the changes in Windows 11 being mostly cosmetic. The point being, the following should work on both Windows 10 and 11 PC's. I am using a Dell Desktop XPS PC, with windows 11. I bought this ZEXMTE BT 5.1 adapter to replace an old 4.0 adapter in the hope that it would extend the operating distance of my Soundcore Life Q30 Bluetooth 5 headphones. My Procedure Note: The following procedure should only be required if your PC has another 3rd party Driver already installed, which was the case for me. I would imagine that those who DO NOT have a Desktop PC with 3rd party Bluetooth Drivers installed, WOULD NOT need to do this Procedure. i.e. For those without a currently installed Bluetooth driver, it should be a case of simply plugging the ZEXMTE adapter in (No Driver to be installed by the user), and your good to go, (As was the case for me after uninstalling the old Bluetooth Driver) 1. Not strictly essential but I backed up my PC, just in case. I would recommend you do the same. 2. I unpaired my Headphones from the windows 11 device. (Unpairing them first was important. It helped ease the removal of my old Bluetooth Driver) To Unpair / Remove your current Device: Right click start > Apps and Features > Bluetooth and Devices. Here you will see your paired devices. Left click the three dots of the device you wish to remove and select "Remove Device" from the dropdown options. 3.Open the Windows device manager: A) Right click start, Select "Device Manager" from the Menu B) Locate "Bluetooth" from the list. To view the items contained, click the > button next to the Bluetooth symbol C) Locate your currently installed Bluetooth Driver from the newly revealed list. It SHOULD CONTAIN THE WORD "DEVICE" in its name. Note: Do not remove or uninstall anything with Microsoft in its name. Tip: If you cannot see / locate the Bluetooth driver you wish to remove, click "View" at the top of the Device Manager and select "Show Hidden Devices" from the Drop-down menu D) Left click the Driver you want to remove to highlight it, then Right click. Select "Uninstall Device" from the resulting drop-down menu and follow the prompts (i.e., Accept the Removal of the device) E) Reboot the Machine F) After Rebooting, plug in the ZEXMTE adapter. The Bluetooth symbol should now be visible in the System tray on the Task Bar. 4. Right click on this Bluetooth symbol, and select "Add a Bluetooth Device". From the resulting screen, make sure that the Bluetooth button is toggled to the "On" Position. 5. Underneath this you will see, "Pair New Device with (YOUR PC NAME HERE) Click "Add Device" (Make sure your device is discoverable and in Pairing Mode) 6. Follow the procedure for pairing your Device (Whatever that may be, in my case, Headphones) 7. After the pairing procedure has been completed, you can check the status of your newly paired device by clicking again on the Bluetooth symbol in the taskbar, and selecting "Show Bluetooth Devices" 8. It should show / say that your Device is paired. Click on the Device to connect it. It should remain connected (Even after restarting) as long as you don't disconnect it 9. That’s it. Note: If you want to check if the Driver version installed, go into the Device Manager (Described Above) As you can see from the screenshot of my Bluetooth Driver list, included with this post, that IT IS 5.1 That's all you need to know if you simply want to get things working. Using an Extension Cable with the ZEXMTE Adapter The following is an additional option that I wanted to take up to maximize the operating distance of my Headphone. Because my PC is located in a compartmentalised section at the bottom of my Desk, along with the fact that the USB port that I wanted to use is at the top of the PC itself, it's a bit of tight squeeze to manoeuvre USB devices in and out. I was also concerned that I would be giving the Bluetooth signal an extra obstacle, "entombed" at the bottom of my desk. I decided to buy a USB extension cable but I wasn't sure if it would carry an audio signal. I decided to take a chance with the Rankie USB 2.0 Extension Cable, A-Male to A-Female (1.8 meters) I found it for just under £5 here https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01KWOBK84/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I can testify to the fact that the ZEMMTE adapter and the extension work perfectly for my purposes (Extending the operating range of my Headphones) I have it situated on a small shelve just above my monitor. The range I get is great, I can easily go to the bottom of the garden (25 - 30 Meters) as well as every room in the house without any drop-outs or interference of any kind. I have no idea if the extension makes any difference to the quality of the signal, I have not tried the adapter on its own because of the tricky location of my PC and the top loading, slightly obstructed USB Ports.
