A hybrid is technically an iron replacement so a 3 Hybrid is a 3 iron replacement. It is a lot more forgiving and easier to hit a hybrid for most golfers then a long iron but a general rule is hybrids do tend to go longer then the iron they replace and they also launch in the air easier and higher.
