While people are mentioning they are using it in wall, that does not mean it meets the fire code ratings for in wall use so I’d use at your own risk. **Q: Does the ethernet out of this splitter still push out 48v (enough to power a poe camera) while still powering the usb port?** A: Nope, the power is split from the Ethernet so all you are left with is a non powered ethernet connection and a powered usb port **Q: Is there an outside case to put this in to protect from the weather?** A: No there is not a specific case designed for this **Q: what is the operating temperature range of this device?** A: Not sure on exact numbers, but I wouldn’t use it in sub freezing or over 120-f. If you’re asking how much heat it puts off, it’s fairly minimal. I have it mounted with low strength adhesive tape and usually warmer devices fall off from heating the adhesive.
