It expect it throttles the speed somewhat, but it doesn't seem noticeable. you cant power the drives off individually, but you can remove individual drives whilst the system is running. **Q: Can 4, 4TB discs be used in it?** A: I have 4 1tb ssd in mine and it is fine, I asked Sabrent support and they were very good in replying and quick.
