Review: Cats LOVE these toys! - I don't free-feed my cats, they get a can of wet food each. One of my cats had decided this is not enough, and bothers me all day to be fed. She is, indeed, on a diet, because she got a bit porky. With this ball filled with Purena Weight Control (tiny pieces, perfect for "hardest" setting) and a few bits of bigger food that doesn't fit through the holes (to make it harder, and to make sure it's never completely empty, so they never give up on it) she can play all day, and never eat more then half the recommended portion, which is prolly even fewer calories then she spends batting the thing around trying to get foods. It's a great addition to the wet food I give, as one can doesn't offer *quite* enough calories for a cat of her size, nor, in the case of my other cat, enough calories for his activity level. With this, it's occupying all day, reduces the urgency of getting the next meal, and rounds off the calorie count nicely. And for a very reasonable spend. My cats love this thing enough that I have no choice but to buy at least 2 more (1 for each cat +1, same rule as litter boxes :D ) but it really keeps them from being destructive and obnoxious when they are bored and/or want food. I doubt this will work for people who allow their cat to eat whatever/whenever or who frequently give treats/scraps, as those are full of way more flavors and, in the case of treats, chemicals, which makes them more appealing... If, however, you don't free-feed, if you wet feed or portion control, even if you don't use this toy as a meal server, it's great to keep idle paws busy It's easy to switch settings, although I honestly think it's a bit too easy, even on the hard setting -being that it's intended for meals, not treats, though, this is a very very small complaint, and not even a big deal. It holds about maybe a cup of food at a time, and the holes get down to about 1/4 inch across or so, and are shaped like this --> () so you don't need round food, round-ish flattened foods are good, but X shaped or larger foods are no good, they catch too easily. For a treat ball, there are a few round ones with a single hole that look much harder then this (also on desertcart, in several colors -I ordered a few, and will be reviewing them when they get here ^_^), but it does what it says, my cats love it, and it certainly keeps them occupied
Review: Fun for kitty - This a great toy and lots of fun for kitty. First let me say that this toy is best for a cat who is motivated by food. My male cat would eat nonstop if I let him. He also gets bored very easily. I like this toy because you can put it on different settings. Initially I fill the "egg" with different-sized nuggets (hard food) from small to larger pieces. I adjust the opening to accommodate only small nuggets falling out. I then hide the egg, i.e., in his toy basket, behind his bed, etc. He has such a great sense of smell that he can sniff it out. So the fun begins. He has to find the hidden egg. Then after he gets it out, he starts batting it around until all the small nuggets fall out. He's persistent so he'll keep batting it long after all the small pieces have been emptied out. He can see that the egg still contains other nuggets. Eventually he'll give up. However, in the interim he's gotten at least an hour of exercise. He'll go back to the egg periodically trying to get the remaining nuggets. Just when he thinks it hopeless, usually a day or so later, I'll adjust the openings to accommodate the larger pieces. Imagine his delight when he goes back to the toy (remember he's persistent) and the larger pieces now come out. He has no idea that I'm adjusting the opening. He just thinks he has the magic touch. :>) All in all this is a great "toy" for the price. Your cat will enjoy it for hours. It's pretty durable. The first has lasted a couple of years even with him knocking it down the stairs on many occasions. I'm buying another one just as a back-up since I can no longer find it in the pet store.

I don't free-feed my cats, they get a can of wet food each. One of my cats had decided this is not enough, and bothers me all day to be fed. She is, indeed, on a diet, because she got a bit porky. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Egg-cerziser is our hero!

Thank you for 10+ years of service! This thing held up like a champ with my cat. We originally used it to slow down his eating to avoid the “snarf and barf” situation. We used a successfully for years. Then as he got older, we realized that he was dropping weight and needed a little extra so we put a higher calorie food in it just to give him a little help. This has worked out great for us as we continued to feed him his regular “older cat” food and at the same time are able to keep weight on him in a slow and steady way. Plus, it’s super fun to watch him knock that egg over and roll it around and figure out how to get something out of it. In 10+ yrs, he hasn’t gotten bored of it yet! I really went ragged just the last month or so. I cannot tell you how pleased I am with this Egg-cersizer and I was very willing to replace it. The new one came super quick. It’s nice and shiny and not beat up and I’m happy to have it back in the family.
