It works well for my particular use case of eliminating problematic ground loops in unbalanced line-level signals. If my intention for this device was to transform between instrument-level and mic-level I probably would've sent it back as it seems very prone to picking up noise even when just using it as a "cable" by plugging an instrument into the input and an amp into the THRU port.
