My eldest to nurture more of a growth mindset and for my eldest son (2nd child) we purchased his copy in the hopes that it would not only help him attain more of a growth mindset but would help empower him along his healing journey fostering the skills needed for later in life. He has ptsd due to extreme bullying, he was threatened with a knife by a gang of boys at his school, the school refused to intervene. Luckily we pulled him as those boys later stabbed and murdered a child in the year above. If the school, police and governors had of acted on our weekly, sometimes daily, complaints that young lad may still be alive. My son has a lot of unresolved guilt, pain, fear, anxiety and depression as a result of this trauma and mental health care for our teens takes far too long. Since we started growth mindset as a family, with various resources, we have watched them each grow, start to heal and move forward. We now home educate all four of our children (youngest only two but she is most certainly already on a home ed journey) and growth mindset has been an amazing benefit for us all as a family. We bought one copy of the book and individual copies of the journals to work through. My 8 year olds has been put away for now as its a bit too advanced for him, SEN, however we also do the big life journal and this book compliments that also. I recommend this for any teen as growth mindset provides coping mechanisms that are transferable to all avenues of life, they are easy to follow and my teens complete them independantly.
