While it's clear that many people will gravitate toward it for fighting games, it might not be the right fit for everyone. If you're expecting the smooth, fluid travel of a typical floating membrane pad (like an M30), I wouldn't recommend the D6, as it probably won’t meet your expectations. While it works well enough for fighting games, there's a bit of an adjustment period. The controller is extremely precise because of the microswitches, which means your movements need to be more deliberate. You can still chain hadoukens, but the feel is different from what you might be used to with a membrane style pad. The microswitches on the D-pad have a fantastic feeling, providing a satisfying click with each press. Personally, I find this controller to be perfect for 2D platformers and retro games and my new main controller for that use case. I actually prefer it over the M30, which can sometimes miss inputs, something the D6 doesn't have trouble with. It’s an awesome controller for emulation, where every input counts. The face buttons and shoulder buttons have a nice feel to them and very responsive. The build quality is excellent, easily one of the best Retro Fighters has put out. I have a good number of these little controllers that are more intended for use in retro titles. From the 8bitdo M30, to the Retrobit Saturn, to the Betop C3. I play a lot of (mostly 2d) fighting games at a reasonably high level and care a lot about how accurate and easy to use a peripheral is. The D6 is right in line with the quality and performance of the M30, albeit in a more premium package. Every button feels consistent with one another, the triggers don't rattle and are accurate to press at almost any angle I've cared to use. The dpad is both fast and accurate enough to get clean, high execution moves as easily as I've ever tried on a pad (things like pretzel inputs, half circles out of dashes, wavedashes, KBD chains, you name it.) All as or more doable than on similarly priced and spec'd competition. I initially took the jump on this thing because I was desperate for a 'clicky' pad after ultimately being disappointed with the 8bitdo Neogeo CD controller. If you're looking for that, and enjoy a Sega style dish dpad, please give this thing a try.
