It can be run off USB power too; giving more flexibility. Finally, it can provide a slate-tone allowing for easier synchronization of audio in post. The modular system of on-board mics may be useful to some people. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great field recorder and audio interface *by A***R on 25 January 2018* I am a filmmaker, been us in this device as field recorder using sennhieser mke 600 as dialouge boom mic for a week. It does has a same pre-amps as compared to zoom H6 much better then zoom h4n / pro and other low end recorder like tascam. There is a extra noise when boost the gain above level 5, great battery back up 10-12 hrs with both alkaline and lithium. I suggest use juciedlink to illuminate noise floor to achieve great audio.
