You fold fabric where you want hem and place strip inside the fold then iron. Works great. **Q: which side do you iron on? smooth or rough** A: It doesn't matter which side. Just don't leave your iron on the tape too long. **Q: can it be used for hemming men's jeans? is that too heavy a material?** A: I wouldn't use it for the jeans, not just because of heavy material, but also because of repeated washing. I used it for hemming some curtains and it worked great! **Q: What is the temp setting on the iron, and will it work on nylon?** A: I have used iron on tape many times. This one is pure junk. It melted on the fabric, but did NOT bind it NO MATTER what setting. It ruined my iron, taking me 2 hours to clean it. It TOTALLY RUINED my ironing board cover and I will need to buy a new one. So I’m always long for ways to hem pants, and most recently I needed a pair of jeans hemmed. This did the trick, was very simple to apply & actually looks better than a traditional hem. I did make sure to hold the iron on longer than suggested bc I wanted everything to adhere extra well. I’ve washed twice with now issues, but I know it’s a matter of time before I either have to apply again or sew to keep the hold. I only give this 4 stars bc one day I will have to re-do them. I’m try to write back when I have a timeline. I’d absolutely recommend keeping this on hand for when you’re are lazy or in a pinch for time.
