But just in case it's not clear... It's a stainless steel hollow bar. It's not baking soda. If you leave a stainless steel hollow bar on a shelf in a refrigerator, it will not remove fridge odors. It will just take up space. If you've ever left a stainless steel cup, container or pot in your fridge, well then you've probably noticed no difference in your fridge's smell. So no. This bar won't remove odors in your fridge. **Q: I bought the rub-away on clearence and i don't have any instrutions on how to use it? It came with no box! If anyone can help me it would be great!** A: You don't need any instructions. Just rub it on your hands and the smell goes away. And its portable. You can take it most anywhere. I don't know if it would work if you got sprayed by a skunk. The Italians say just rub your hands on your stainless steel sink and that works too. But try taking your sink everywhere you can take your bar. I love mine. Just rub your hands kind of like you were washing your hands but without the water or soap. But I always washing my hands first, then rub them with my bar. I hope this helps. **Q: how long does this bar last?** A: Basically, it lasts FOREVER (I'm sure there's a limit). The bar is made of stainless steel and it's a chemical reaction created by the water, the sulfur in the smell, oxygen from the air and the stainless. I've had mine for about 1 1/2 years and it still looks brand new and works like the day I got it (despite having been dropped onto the tile floor in the shower NUMEROUS times) and it's used EVERY DAY. There's 3 of us using it, we use normal soap and water and then use this bar to get rid of any remaining odor. **Q: Wouldn't a stainless steel spoon work as well? Has anyone compared this to anything else made of SS? Thanks.** A: The first time I heard of using stainless steel to take away the smell of garlic on hands was 1995. It most definitely works as sulphur (which causes odor from garlic) bonds to the steel, thus removing it. However, I do not think this bar is stainless steel, but chrome plated steel (it will rust).
