From what I can see at the end, it has a really beefy two-piece aluminum ferrule — crimped and well rubber-coated. A two-piece ferrule adds increased strength over a one-piece, and the aluminum provides corrosion resistance. In my opinion, these are well built and definitely strong enough for their intended purpose: holding a power drill or other tools as a safety tether to prevent drops. I think these are a great value, with many more uses than advertised — as long as you keep them in light-duty applications. More colors, lengths, and published weight ratings would make them even better.
