I plan on switching they system to this system, can i program the new fobs prior to shutting down the old system?** A: Old fobs and new ones have nothing to do with each other unless I am misunderstanding your question.? Assuming you want to use the old fobs in the new system? Not sure about that. The reader supports the following cards: EM4100/EM4001/TK4100. But yes you can just install the provided software n a network pc and hook up the usb fob reader as well. Create the users and link the unique new fob ID to that user using the provided reader / or type it in. I did my cards after hardware setup, but you can do it at any time. You will have to hook the control panel up the network at some point to write the settings/user fobs to control board, but once that is done, you can disconnect from the network and pretty much set and forget. Obviously the price point is a major factor but I was not sure what I would receive for the money. All the components were accounted for and I had an electrician friend of mine do all the wiring. Pretty much no problems, or only the ones that are typically associated with a new setup. Got people in the door and signed up on opening day, all with 24 hr access via the key fobs. As our second month rolled around we lost a few members and I was having problems turning their fobs off. We were even scanning random fobs and the door was opening. NOT GOOD. Arranged for customer support via email with Chen, set a time, set up Teamviewer so he could help with the software, phoned him via Skype and he got it taken care of in about 30 minutes. Very helpful, very courteous, very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who needs this type of system but is on a budget.
