Good Microphone with a Couple of Flaws
The media could not be loaded. TAKSTAR GX1 RGB Computer MicOut of the box, the microphone has a good appearance. It looks and feels of good quality and construction. I will split this review into two sections of things I liked and didn’t.Things I liked:-I like the RGB lights in this microphone. It changes colors slowly and steadily. It takes approximately 30 seconds to cycle through all of the colors. The light is very soft and easy on the eyes. If you can have this microphone in front of your face while playing a game, they will not bother you.-The microphone has a convenient soft touch mute button on the top. You know it is muted because the colors turn off.-On the back you have a squelch switch. This cleans up the background noise, but reduces quality if there is little to no ambient noise.-I like that you can turn the microphone around 360 degrees and it also moves forward, backwards, and from side-to-side.-The microphone is stable on a desk.-There is a gain knob on the front of the microphone. If you want the microphone to be louder you can turn it up; likewise, if you want it lower, you can turn it down.-The overall sound quality of the microphone is good. You can hear the speaker clearly while dampening some of the background noises. This would be a good little microphone for someone making online videos or just playing games.Things I do not like about this microphone:-The microphone plugs into a USB slot of the PC or other device and uses a USB-C connector to the microphone. The cable doesn’t connect very securely. If you were to pick this microphone up or move it around your desk, it may come loose and turn the mic off. I would have liked something a little more secure. I was testing this microphone on my android phone and while talking to someone on the phone, the cable came loose.-While using this microphone, you have to connect headphones into it or you won’t be able to hear anything on the device you are using. For example, when I play a game, I can’t just use the microphone and TV speakers at the same time. I must connect headphones to the microphone to hear anything. I do not like this aspect because I have a nice Sound Blaster card in my PC, and this eliminates that. I would have liked this much better if it was only recognized as a microphone and not an entire sound card.-You can not use a quality pair of headphones without a 3.5mm audio extension cable (not very easy to find in-stores). I have a quality pair of Sennheiser headphones I use and these come with a 0.25” headphone jack. To use them with my computer I have a 0.25” to 3.5mm adapter. This microphone does not have enough room for the adapter. It is a rather small space.-While using this microphone you always hear yourself. This may be good for some tasks, but annoying for others. I really don’t want to hear myself while playing a game. I’m not sure yet if there is a way to turn that off.-As long as it is plugged into a computer, it is on. Even when my computer was in ‘sleep’ mode, the microphone was on and fully functional. This may look cool on your desk because the colors are glowing, but it may invite unwanted listeners. Some other aspects: I have tried this microphone with a Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Android Device. The microphone worked with all devices. Unfortunately, the quality was very poor on the PlayStation. I am not sure why this is the case, but it sounded like you were underwater. I adjusted all the settings I could find, but was unable to get the microphone to work well with the PlayStation 4.I tried to connect the microphone to an apple phone, but it did not work. Chances are I didn’t have the right adapter. I used a USB-A to USB-C adapter on an Apple cord. In theory it should have worked, but there may be something I was missing.I ran some online tests for this microphone and these were the resultsAverage Quality Rating - 1600Automatic Gain Control - yesEcho Cancellation - yesEstimated latency - 0.01Sample Rate - 48000Sample Size - 16To give you a comparison on how well this microphone performs with other microphones, I have prepared the following ListCompetitor Microphone QR - 1137 -Rank - 4969Competitor Microphone QR - 1550 -Rank - 3079This Microphone QR - 1600Competitor Microphone QR - 1719 -Rank - 2527Competitor Microphone QR - 2624 -Rank - 979Competitor Microphone QR - 2993 -Rank - 724Competitor Microphone QR - 7760 -Rank - 89Overall, this is a good microphone and I would recommend it for recreational use, game playing, and maybe creating online videos.

ok, not great
microphone looks nice and all but it has a lot of cons.Microphone has a touh to mute which is great. You don't have to flip a switch and deafen others when muting your mic, just tap on the top and it will turn off the rgb lights to show it is muted. So cons... It picks up a lot of buzzing/static sounds when talking into the mic. No matter how low I turn the mic gain down it will still have a lot of buzzing noise.Live monitor is nice but there's no way to turn down the gain for audio unless you also turn down the audio you're listening to.Line out for the headset is reversed so whatever has to come out the left side will be on the right and also right side will come through left side. It will be disorienting when playing games you will hear footsteps on your right but will actually be on your left.SQ or noise suppression is not that effective, it will just make your audio have a lot of in and out buzzing noise which can get annoying.Otherwise if you're just looking for a nice and inexpensive microphone then it's ok I guess just don't expect to sound like a pro when gaming.

Everything I need in a small package
The media could not be loaded. I needed a quick replacement mic after mine broke on my headset. The mic weighed more than I expected. I thought it was going to be very light but there is a little weight to it which is nice (no concern with it tipping over in the base or knocking it down if you accidentally bump the table).I can't say enough with the plug and play feature. I'm not a technical genius but I was able to plug it in and have it working straight out of the box without ever picking up the instruction booklet!I love the touch on and off feature (included in my video). You don't even need to tap very hard on the top and it turns on and off. I've tested it with friends in game and some with sensitive headphones can barely pick up keystrokes while others cannot even differentiate that I am mashing down keys at all! They have all said that my voice comes out crystal clear and this is with the SQ button switched to ON.One downside is not being able to change the LED which might be a slight aesthetic problem for people who have a specific color scheme in their gaming set up. I didn't find it a nuisance since my mechanical keyboard is multicolored and the mic has a very pretty ambience-almost like an ombré or gradient effect and doesn't flash or is distracting to the eye. The instruction manual says you can plug it to iPhone using Cable to lightning adapter so I'm looking forward to plugging it up to my iPad or phone and experiment with that feature.Overall, I'm very impressed and will continue to use it for my gaming needs.
