I recently had a new computer system built (after 10+ years) and didn't realize that my old monitors wouldn't connect the same way.I needed something ASAP so I found these on Amazon and bought 4.As someone who knows nothing about computers. setup was simple. Literally, plug and play. In less than a few minutes, everything was up and running fine and I've had zero issues.I need to get a job done and these do the job.

The picture was very clear, and allowed me to make sure I was getting the right product. It works well and allows me to connect an old monitor to a new computer tower.

This device perfectly united my old video monitor to my laptop so that I now have a larger display to read when I use my laptop on my desk. Note: I didn't rate tech support for this product because I didn't need any. It was plug and play.

I purchased this adapter to connect one of my HP monitors ( HP V242h) to my Mac mini. Initially I had this HP monitor connected to the Mac mini using a HDMI cable although it has a DVI output also. My second monitor that was an old dell monitor only had a VGA output so I had connected to the Mac using apple's thunderbolt VGA adapter. But recently the dell monitor stopped working and had to purchase a new monitor. Since there was only 1 HDMI output on the Mac mini therefore I wanted to explore connecting the HP via DVI output hence I purchased this startec's product from amazon. The product came in on time as stated. The adapter has a mini-displayport (20 pin) male (also called as thunderbolt adaptor) on one end (inserts in the Mac mini) and the the other end has a DVI (29 pin) female that connects to the monitor using a DVI cable. The adapter performs just like the HDMI cable did and I don't see any big differences on the monitor screen. I will update the review after some time has passed on to see how this adapter functions on long term. Oh! BTW the adapter has a 2 year warranty that I just noticed on the packaging. I would definitely recommend buying this adapter which is great purchase considering the price and the performance so far.

This product, like the HDMI to DVI dongle I purchased are from StarTech. I've used products they carry for years and they've always been dependable. This adapter / dongle worked perfectly with my docking station and a multi-monitor configuration. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Great way to use an older monitor on a new computer.

FYI. Doesn't work correctly with new Microsoft surface. Need an active adapter.
