I have a Berkey filter at home that my naturopathic doctor recommended. Now, I can have the same benefits when I travel! The bottle is lightweight, easy to use, and BPA free.

These are terrible! Having a Big Berkey at home, which we love, I had high expectations for these pricey water bottles. The filters probably work great. However, the plastic bottles are flimsy, the gasket to prevent leaks doesn’t fit well, and the bottle leaks when squeezed. The bottle must be squeezed to prep the filter, but this is not done easily. It takes a long time to squeeze enough out to the point of being able to use them and that comes with a lot of squeezing and sore hands. We’ve had our Big Berkey for over 10 years. These were a huge disappointment!

The bottle is prone to leaking if it is stored horizontally or upside down, so you have to keep it upright at all times.Another issue is that it’s a small bottle, most of the interior being taken up by the filter.Finally, Berkey’s water filters are not tested to NSF standards, citing the expense of getting tested (a bit suspicious). Yet they claim to filter far more contaminants and to a much higher degree than the NSF standards. I would probably not buy this bottle again for these reasons.

I love Berkey overall, but these sports bottles (now purchased 4 for my family) tend to be hard to seal so they don’t leak and one of them was pinching the silicone straw when the top closes in such a way that is has cut a hole in it. The way the top closes over the straw can sometimes make the straw get stuck down and not pop up as desired. On the whole they work and supply the filtered water easily but the bottle design needs reworking.

My main problem with these water bottles is the leaking. If you squeeze the water bottle, it will leak. It also leaks if left on its side in your bag. They also do not hold much water. In addition to these issues, they are made of plastic and are unable to keep your water cold. Not a favorite of mine… and I’m a big berkey fan.

I ordered 3 of these for a week long hiking trip to Colorado. I've known Berkey water systems are very superior, thats why I ordered these bottles. So out of the 3 mine leaked and when you retract the lid to drink from the straw my straw would get stuck, so I was constantly touching it and pulling it up for me to drink from. Not great to have to do during COVID where you don't want to touch anything your putting in your mouth. I will be returning mine. Otherwise the bottle worked great. Was good to not have to buy bottles and bottles of water.
