great guitar for the money.
I got this guitar and I must say, once again washburn / oscar schmidt delivers. Washburn has always been a staple in my guitar collection be it, bass, electric, acoustic, and now classical.I am ~5ft. 6in. tall. This guitar fits me perfectly. When I got the guitar, the action was dialed in right out of the box. Just a quick re-tune out of the box and she was playing. In any case, I will be swapping out the string for my normal ones I am used to, I think they will brighten up the sound even more.Granted there are much better classical guitars out there, but they cost much more money. The guitar was just what I was looking for. I wanted a half-way decent classical to play out with. I got more than that with this one. This guitar is great for playing weddings and the like. It has Washburn electronics if you choose to plug into an amp, but it does just fine on it's own.I got the electric version because I tend to play some larger places equipped with a sound system and it's easier to get in, sound check, play and get out. No nonsense with mic issues, sound guys who don't know the difference between a vocal and instrument mic and placement. Just plug-in and go. It also has a built in pre-amp so if you need to tweak something you don't want to leave up the sound crew you can do so. I also like having ultimate control over my volume. Sound guys constantly forget to mute you while someone is talking. That should be your job anyway. For smaller venues like weddings and the like, this guitar is loud enough on it's own. No need to plug in if you are just playing a coffee hour or in front of the chapel entrance for seating. It also has nubone bride and nut so it won't wear like plastic, which makes the strings get sloppy. If I had to pick something bad about this guitar, it would be in the details. Nothing major wrong with this at all. Some imperfections in the finish but absolutely nothing to write home about. There were no nicks or scratches on the guitar, but if you look really really close you can see some blemishes underneath the coating. but again, NOTHING worth complaining about, especially for the price point.I will post a video review shortly when I have some free time.

Three Stars
Good Starter guitar. Last fret was chafing strings, I had to file it by hand.

Excellent guitar
I received this guitar today and when I opened it I was amazed of how beautiful and sturdy this guitar is. Not a flaw, very comfortable to play overall the best purchase I made very classy and great gloss finish, excellent for fingerpicking classical tunes and ragtime, I am a electric guitar player but needed something for my classical studies and this guitars by far stands its ground in quality and craftsmanship. The sound is very full and I haven't tried plug it in but I am certain it will sound great. It has a built in equalizer and the cut allows for reaching the higher frets no problem, once I tuned it it sounded beautiful. It also came with a cable, no case though so get yourself a good case and you're ready.

Overall a great buy for the price
This is my first review I think though I may have submitted one in the past that I cannot now recollect. However my experience with this guitar needs to be recorded. I have played classical guitar for many year and have owned many guitars that were not always of the best quality but as my skill has grown so too has the quality of my guitars. My current favourite is Cordoba, you get very good value for money if you don't have a lot of money to spend. The C9 is heavenly. I have a couple Cordobas.Having said that, I wanted an acoustic electric to play with the band at church as I was tired of sticking piezo mics on my Cordoba and I needed to be able to adjust my volume on the guitar and not on the amp. I looked around on Amazon and saw this very reasonably priced Oscar Schmidt acoustic electric. I read the reviews religiously and I tend to focus on the people who give 3 stars. I want to see what the marginal people have to say. As a result I was prepared for the major faults on the guitar; sharp frets that feel like the can cut you and a bit of a chemical smell.Amazon delivered the first guitar to my hotel room (good job) and it had all the problems stated above. The smell was honestly not bad and I stopped noticing it after a while. I didn't like the feel of the frets at all but i knew I could probably grind it smooth without damaging the guitar. The thing that worried me was that the battery light didn't come on when I pressed the check light knob. I contacted Amazon and they arranged a replacement (good job again). I must say though that a day later the light did come on but Amazon had already shipped the replacement. I thought it would be good to compare the 2. The second one did not have the smell and though the frets were a bit sharp, they weren't as bad as before. What I like about the guitar is:The price was very good,The guitar has a truss rod. Haven't tried it yet because the set up was good for me. Not too fast but no buzz at all,The guitar isn't brilliant but has a nice enough sound when played acoustically.I have an acoustic amp, not a great one but good enough. The guitar sounds great when played through that. The difference from my Cordobas is that it doesn't sustain a note as long but i view this as a good thing on the electric side as it gives a clearer sharper finish. The guitar with the original strings hold pitch nicely. I checked it with my electric tuner. Less variation than the Cordoba C5.What I didn't like.I find that the body of the guitar is a bit small but still heavyIts not a beautiful guitar if that matters to you.The fret board is not wide enough and the E strings can fall over the edge when I push on the strings the way I could do on my Cordobas.Overall a great buy for the price. I was pleasantly surprised especially with the quality of the pickups and the sound in general.

Great guitar
this guitar is great for its price range. i ordered this guitar last month and it arrived with a cracked neck so i had to replace it. when i got the replacement, the guitar had a lot of buzzing on the 6th string so i had to return it. then i got another replacement and this time the electronics wasn't working properly as this guitar has a built-in pickup. again i had to replace it. good thing amazon is very good at really satisfying customers so i got another replacement and this time it just worked perfectly. this last one i got sounded so well with the d'addario strings. the finish and its color are excellent! i always feel excited to play this guitar.

Would Not Stay in Tune. It was nice to look at.

Two Stars
NOT what I expected from Oscar Schmidt. I had to send it back for sloppy workmanship.
