CitizenMen's Eco-Drive Weekender Nighthawk Chronograph Watch in Black IP Stainless Steel, Black Dial (Model: CA0295-58E)

This was a gift to my husband and he’s extremely happy! He likes the dark design and how matte and shiny details come together on this watch. It holds its time and as long as it has any light source it will charge. The watch was easy to size, just a couple of pins to remove. Our only hang up is, if it’s dark it’s very hard to see the hands against the dark background. Overall it’s beautiful and perfect for special occasions and date night.

Great watch looks great and is very durable

I needed a new watch but I’m pretty selective. I looked at a lot of different colors, options and styles before I decided I really like the blackout style. That’s only the beginning, now that I had the color and style, I had to choose a brand, my necessary options and the right ‘look’ for my tastes. I checked out watches from $25-$2k.This watch fits all of my criteria but one.I needed more than ‘splash resistance’ some watches have. They might look good but I don’t want humidity or a light sprinkling rain ruining a watch. This watch is good enough to swim and snorkel with.I wanted stainless steel or titanium and this watch is stainless steel, black.I didn’t want a ‘light’ or different colored hands, I wanted black. This one is, ALL BLACK. The hands do have some luminescence to them, just enough to make out the time when you wake up at night groggy. Perfect.I looked at a lot of brands and chose Citizen and the Eco-drive for their reviews and customer satisfaction. The only thing I would think should be upgraded is the crystal to sapphire. Lacking that, the watch is one step from perfect.I set the time upon arrival and removed some links from the band and I’m extremely satisfied. I’d recommend this watch. It looks good, functions properly and fits my character.

Can not see in the dark hands do not light up so you can’t tell time in the dark

I bought this watch on Amazon in 2014. I wore it nearly every day for several years before putting it in a safe. It was forgotten there for a few more years. I took it out and was doubtful it would still work after sitting for so long. I left it in the sun and sure enough it works perfectly and holds a charge. Great quality for the price. And while I paid $200 back then for it I would gladly pay $500 if I ever had to replace it.

I am a collector of black watches, this nighthawk is amazing. The stock picture does not do it justice. I am not sure why someone says they cannot tell time on it, I can see it fine. The hands and face are a different shade of black, the hands look almost a slightly grayish color (visible in stock pic) and also illuminate in green after being in the sun. The eco-drive technology has not let me down yet.I have another black ion plated Citizen watch (AR3015-53E) and the black easily scratches off of it even from just wearing it and writing with the same hand, Citizen has improved that and it is not the case anymore. I have been wearing this watch daily and not one scuff has showed up even after a few dings here and there.I especially like the sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position that points to whether it is noon or midnight, as if it were always night and I couldn't tell! Really nice touch. This watch gets complimented often. Would recommend this watch, especially from Amazon. I pre-ordered and was guaranteed the price and know it's authentic. Saw this watch at a local department store and it was 150$ more. Thanks Amazon!

i haven't bought many expensive watches before especially online, but i saw the photos of this Citizens "NightHawk" and fell in love with the looks of the watch. I took a chance on the Citizen name and Amazon who has rarely let me down! Well the watch has arrived and it came earlier than it was supposed to which was a pleasant surprise and so is the NightHawk!It is even more handsome than the pictures for they did not do it justice!! Granted the darkness of the face doesn't lend itself to being read in low light enviroments however the stylishness and elegance of the design of the watch more than makes up for that one and only short coming. It weight is noticable but not to heavy like a nice large diamond, one notices that its there but one doesn't mind the feeling!I am very please with my decision to purchase this watch and I am sure should you make the same decision to purchase the NightHawk you won't regret you choice it's a really cool and sexy watch !

FYI - I typically leave very good reviews - I am generous with my "stars."I was so excited about this watch - I got it for my man and had it engraved without taking the back off so it would retain its warranty. It was great at first, and he wore it every day, but then after the first month all of the paint on the part that meets any surface under your wrist started to rub off (e.g. now as I am typing my wrist meets the table, it only experienced white collar use). Case in point I paid over $300 for a Citizen Nighthawk watch that, while the mechanics still work, is no longer wearable because it looks like garbage.To Citizen - I am scathingly disappointed that when I called your warranty line about 6-7 months after my purchase to tell you that a significant amount of paint had come off as early as one month in, I was told that this is not considered a material defect and is not covered by the warranty (WHAT?!). This gift was precious to both of us because it was my first major gift to him, personalized and all, and apparently a $300 watch, according to Citizen, should be wearable for less than 6 months. What a darn shame - horrible corporate practices. I sincerely hope someone at Citizen sees this review and responds to correct the problem. He hasn't worn the watch in 3-4 months because its visual appeal is lacking, and I only bought it less than a year ago. What the heck, Citizen!
