LG product
Just replaced heating element on a 13 yr. old LG dishwasher. I’m a senior female and had a guy friend help install. Watched a YouTube video to learn how to replace and it was a fairly easy replacement. The part cost around $65 which beats paying a $200-300 service call or having to buy a new dishwasher. Didn’t consider buying an off brand universal element from experience. Worked perfectly.

This was an fairly easy fix for a DIY-er
My dishwasher steam was not nearly as hot at the end of each wash. The dishes were drying a streaky white, so I took a look online for possible solutions. Apparently, a heating element is a popular dishwasher problem. This was an fairly easy fix for a DIY-er, and I am very happy LG parts are available to replace. The dishwasher is about 7-8 years old and I can still repair it myself, saving $100's. I have seen a lot of complaints about LG in other reviews for this part. The dishwasher is cleaning dishes again! The part fit perfect without any issues and everything has gone back to normal.

Correct part, bad seal, how to fix
Correct part, but the gasket didn’t seal properly, and it leaked through the middle hole where the sensor is.Even used a torque wrench and set it to 2.5 lbs so it was tightened the correct amount (per manufacturer).FIX: I ordered some food safe sealant (DAP 00688 All-Purpose Adhesive Sealant 100% Silicone 2.8oz), and sealed around the sensor and outter rim during install. One month later, the sealant is still holding strong, and the heating element is doing its job 👍

Satisfied part buyer
Dishes were not drying and the dishwasher began to smell musty. Checked the current draw during the drying cycle at my breaker panel, and less than 1 amp revealed the heating element must be defective. Replaced the heating element purchased through Amazon. Part came very quickly. The repair was not difficult after the dishwasher was removed from the cabinet, and tilted on its side. Installing the part was really simple, just remember to totally loosen the lock screw to release the rubber gasket which is held tight with compression. The new heating element did the trick. The dishes are now clean and dry. The water remaining in the dishwasher after a wash is minimal, and no more musty smell. I'm glad it only cost $25 dollars to fix. A repairman would have cost a lot more.

Not a Great Fit
The first one I received did not fit correctly and so I had a replacement sent to me. I still had trouble getting it to fit and not leak but after some altercations and several hours later I finally got it to fit without leaking. I will say I’ve fixed several appliances and nothing tested my patience as much as trying to get this to work on my lds5540st model dishwasher. All in all, it cleared my “he” error code, it was cheaper than other parts websites and I still have half my sanity left.

I had an HE error on a LG LDS5540ST, I don't think this was the problem.
Don't buy this dishwasher. It does clean decently but has failed multiple times in less then two years.Update: if you get HE error, pull out the dishwasher and check the left side where several tubes are located. There is a clear box that has two floats in it, there are electrical wires connected to switches that can be triggered by the floats. The problem is, gunk gets built up on the floats and in the clear box that holds the floats. If the floats can't function, the water will not feel up correctly in the tub, overheating the heating element, resulting in an HE error. Once you clear it out and reconnect, no more HE error!
