Great fountain pen!
I love fountain pens and have owned several. They are cantankerous beasts, fragile and temperamental, messy and occasionally spiteful. But we put up with them because they alone can give us the near mystical pleasure of delivering a line of ink upon a sheet of paper. Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. This pen has its own efficient mechanism for drawing ink into the device and the fine point of the nib is smooth and a pleasure to write with. The pen encourages me to doodle and I use it when ever I need to write something (as long as the paper doesn’t allow the ink to bleed through). I love the clear plastic of the pen and so far no ink leaks (the bane of every fountain pen lover.) If you love fountain pens search no more. It is not a Montblanc, but it’s the next best thing at a fraction of the price of a Meisterstük.

Amazingly smooth, highly recommend!
I admit, I have used fountain pens in the past on and off, but I never quite found one I connected with enough to warrant one being in my 'every day carry' family of items. This pen has completely changed my mind. In my career I'm doing mathematics and solving equations all day long. The need for an important writing utensil that is not only comfortable to write with, but great with ink consumption is ridiculously important. I used to favor the sharpie pen; however, anyone that uses that specific pen knows that they can range anywhere from $3 for one pen that will last me an average of a week of heavy use at most. This pen solves my problems because it is very comfortable to write with. It glides along the paper and if you purchase ink from noodlers or similar carriers then you will no longer have ink problems. The savings in the long term and more than worth it.Details about the pen/My pros:1. The pen is lighter than most other fountain pens I have tried, this is a plus for me2. The pen is beautiful, with its clear chamber allowing to view the ink it really looks beautiful when it catches the light, motivating others to come and ask what kind of pen I'm using or where I got it.3. The pen is extremely easy to take apart.4. The manufacturer ships their own silicone grease which most other companies/carriers do not.5. I purchased the fine nib. I do like to generally write a little larger than the average person so I was considering purchasing a medium. However, I'm extremely pleased with the fine nib and would highly advise the fine over the medium if you're debating it. Like I said above, the pen glides comfortably and isn't scratchy at all.Cons: I need to spend more time with the pen to make a statement. I've had it now for approximately 2 months and I absolutely love it. I don't have any cons to speak of right now. This is my #1 favorite pen right now and my main writing utensil .

An outstanding fountain pen, rivaling those that cost many times more.
This has turned out to be my favorite fountain pen despite the fact that I own several that are many times more expensive. It looks pretty cool, it has a good weight to it, it writes quite smoothly (fine nib), and it holds a LOT of ink.I've had this one for over a year now and it has NEVER failed on me; not even a little skip! I did clean it thoroughly before the first use and I clean it every few refills but I also do that with all of my other fountain pens and some of them are just a huge (expensive) pain in the rear. I let this pen sit on my desk at work for 3+ weeks while I was on vacation and it wrote flawlessly when I picked it back up.The clip has a good amount of flex to it and seems resilient; I've intentionally bent it MUCH further than it would ever need to bend in normal use and it just snaps right back into place (the end is still making contact with the plastic of the cap). The only down side to this pen is that it doesn't "cap" very well. While you CAN technically attach the cap to the bottom, it's clearly not meant to go there. For me, this is a non-issue... just be warned.HIGHLY recommended!

Meant for Capless Writing
The TWSBI pen shipped very quickly from TWSBI and was a pleasure to un-package: an external cardboard box with their logo opened up to an elegant clear plastic display that housed the pen. It was impressive for a $55 pen.As for writing performance, the Fine nib writes well. It isn't as smooth as some have claimed--but one cannot expect a steel nib to be quite as smooth as a gold nib. Then again, I do enjoy the little bit of feedback that I get from the nib. The piston filler holds a ton of ink, and the ink looks awesome twirling around in the pen body. The build quality of the pen itself is consummate with the price of the pen, if not better. In particular, the red TWSBI detail accent on the top of the cap is very high quality. However, my biggest gripe with this pen is that it was actually intended to be written with uncapped. While it is possible to "post" the cap, it throws off the balance of the pen. Also, the cap attaches to the twisting portion that manipulates the piston. So you can imagine the danger if you attach or detach your cap carelessly and end up with ink all over your pants. So I don't even bother capping this pen any more. If you're prone to losing pen caps, this might not be the pen for you.But otherwise, for a very attractive, and well-performing, high-value fountain pen, this is probably one of the best choices on the market. The closest competitor for the money to consider would probably be the Lamy Al Star.

Really elegant
TWSBI Diamond 580 Fountain Pen (F nib) is a marvel for writing enthusiasts! The fine nib delivers a smooth and precise writing experience. The transparent design adds elegance, and the piston filling system ensures a generous ink capacity. A must-have for those who appreciate both form and function in a fountain pen.

Excellent
The screw cap takes very slightly longer to put on, but it seems really, really good at preventing the pen from drying out even if you leave it for a month or two while on vacation. Of course, you do need to screw it on when not using it to prevent it from drying out.The feel of the pen is great. I find the refill mechanism a lot easier to use in practice than using a cartridge pen with a converter or a syringe. If you are fine with using having an ink bottle, a good piston fill is honestly going to be way less trouble, and the pen being a demonstrator means you can actually see what is going on. In hindsight I wish this were my first fountain pen since I don't necessarily need it to be portable.

Calidad-Precio insuperable!!!

Quality of the pen construction: excellent!
This is a very well built pen with a beautifully smooth ‘F’ nib: I’m used to Japanese nibs, which are finer, so I ordered a replacement ‘XF’ nib which is also amazingly smooth(these Jowo nibs are excellent!)
