First Thousand Words in Japanese Paperback – July 1, 2014

We had one of these books at the Middle school, and the students requested more!!!!

This is great book for learning Japanese words. I learned Japanese when I was a kid and had forgotten a lot of the words. This was great for refreshing my memory and also for learning new words.

Great book for getting some vocabulary. While it has the hirigana readings of the words (and romaji), or would also be nice to have the kanji, where appropriate. Basically, I’m looking for an edition for older readers that can help me not just learn how to hear/speak the words, but also how to read them. Given that that is not the intended audience, however, I won’t hold it against this book. Also, it could be a fun learning exercise to fill out the kanji.

I bought this to help me with my reading and vocabulary skills since I'm a beginner, though I do have my kana all memorized. Because of that, I actually had to go through with white out so I wouldn't keep looking at the romaji under all the words! That's just my own preference though and it's definitely a good book, though it doesn't matter so much if you know your kana or not since the romaji is all throughout.

I bought this because I had these books for English and Spanish when I was a kid and since my son and I and learning Japanese. I believe this would help him get a better understanding they same way I did back in the day. These books are a very fun way to learn a new language with amazing pictures that is fun for all ages.
