Oil today is a lot different than it used to be. It really doesn't matter what manufacturer you go with. After building engines and tearing them apart for years. From racing cars at the local drag strip and just fixing up every day drivers I've learned that all that matters is keeping your oil regularly changed and using the right weighted oil for your driving behavior. Oil does not cause problems in an engine... poor maintenance does. Going too long between oil changes, running your engine under strenuous loads the oil weight can't provide enough protection against (aka high performance engines), ignoring car maintenance like replacing engine seals when they go bad, changing bad lifters, oil pumps, etc. and driving a car with mechanical issues and then blaming it on your oil when things go wrong is mostly what I've seen people do in my car repair lifetime.Castrol,Valvoline,Mobile 1, Quaker State... whatever you choose just make sure you get what's right for your application and intended purpose and change it 3K miles or 3 months and your engine will be just fine.This particular Synthetic GTX is 5W-30 it has a very fluent viscosity and will lubricate your engines components just fine. Your motor does not care at all what brand of oil is in it just so long as that oil is able to go through all the the little cracks, holes, and crevices in your engine and lubricate the components that need to be lubricated. Just make sure you keep that oil fresh and change it out when it's time.Most people decide to start buying expensive oil when their engine is already acting funny hoping that will fix the mechanical problem they're really having and then picking on the oil when the problem still persists. You'll never in your life hear a mechanic diagnosing a certain brand of oil as the cause for mechanical engine failure... but you will hear them diagnose a lack of maintenance as the cause for it.

I had a subscription to this type but it was cancelled. I have been using this particular type of Castrol for years and was bummed that it wasn't available for a while.The amount is perfect for my vehicle and full synthetic oil is all I use. I feel a difference after I changed the oil out. My motor does run smoother. Very convenient size that's easy to pour out.

First, those reviews showing the oil leaking in the shipping box from amazon? they are not able to leak because the package I received had the 5qt jug in a sealed plastic bag! How can that leak? It can't.. Also, the date code on this jug was new oil, 120th day of 2020, so end of april beginning of may of production. Today it's august, so about 4months.. not bad. Now.. onto the oil. I've been using it in my civic (1996) for a couple years now. I've had the oil tested by blackstone and it's tested out to be awesome! No wearing, and I actually forgot to change my oil for about a year! I did not mean to do that, but had a personal issues take my concentration. But.. usually I only do 4-6 months intervals. so the testing after 1 year showed the same exact low wear that I have seen at the 6month mark! It does make the engine more quiet. I'd say about 10-15%! The fuel economy has increased in my engine or I should say it returned to what it should be. It does not burn off at all. this is excellent oil! Good job Castrol! I drive a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder with 260 thousand miles on it and still going strong with no signs of motor malfunction. This is the oil I use, the oil I trust and given the mileage I've been able to sustain, it appears to be working pretty well. I'm not so sure about the idea of using synthetics in an aging vehicle like mine, so I just go with what the manufacturer specifies...and it works just fine. Yeah, I have to change every 3-5K miles...but it feels good to clean out that engine anyway. Overall, I run a pretty leak free vehicle...although I have taken the necessary precautions to replace my rear main seal, front oil seals and valve gaskets when it's needed...that's part of the love that's required to take a vehicle into old age like I have.Sometimes, when a good sale comes on, Amazon is actually cheaper than a lot of your local auto shops for this oil. Other times, not as much. If you consider actually driving to the store, it might even be cheaper to have FedEx or UPS just deliver it to your house...at least it is for me anyway since I live a ways out in the country. It's purchases like oil where I consider the value of a Prime membership beneficial...it saves me a few bucks from having to go into town and is super convenient!Quick oil tip? Don't just assume you need 10W30 or 10W40...or whatever Jiffy Lube recommended at some point...they have no idea what they're doing. Look it up for your vehicle and use the specified oil! This is the right oil for D21 and WD21 style Nissan hardbodies!
