bought this Saker contour gauge set (5" + 10") while re‑skinning an ugly basement stairwell, and it turned a fiddly weekend job into a one‑evening sprint. Press the pins against the trim, flip the lock, and you’ve got a dead‑steady stencil you can carry straight to the saw. The lock really is the star—once it’s clamped, those teeth don’t wiggle a hair, even after a couple of trips up and down the stairs with plywood in hand.The tension is adjustable, so you can dial it loose for delicate shapes (think crown moulding profiles) or stiff for beefier tasks like scribing around pipe flanges. A quick tweak with the little Allen screw before first use and both gauges slid smoothly without feeling sloppy.Material‑wise, it’s plain ABS plastic, but the walls are thick enough that the pins don’t flex or snap. After a dozen traces the edges are still crisp and square. The orange body is loud—in a good way; you won’t lose it in a pile of sawdust.Bottom line: If you do flooring, trim, tile, or even automotive body panels, this tool saves measuring, guessing, and cussing. Should’ve added it to the toolbox years ago.

Perfect for those hard angles

Not a bad gizom. Works well, but understand the line you make will have small jagged steps, not a smooth transfer. You'll need to smooth those out while cutting or with a pencil. The "gap" between the two piece when connected leave a small area of no line to trace. You'll have to go do another that overlaps. Wish they did this with no gaps, and with a dual 10" or 12" pieces. VERY hand though. My only concern is the blades getting damaged - no replacements were included.

The Sakar gauge was ordered for use in my home projects.When the package containing the Sakar gauge was opened, I started thinking about various projects it could be used in. This gauge can be adjusted to various sizes and contours. It has a lever-type lock thatmakes it easy to get an accurate reading. I like this feature since once the gauge is adjusted you don't have to keep readjusting or hoping the gauge contour stays in place.It's made of ABS plastic (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene for the non-scientists reading this) and has strong & durable characteristics. Two gauges come in this package, a 5 inch and 10 inch gauge. I certainly like receiving 2 since there are some projects in which a 10 inch length tool will be too long for measuring an area.The measurement "tines" (I don't know what else to call them) may be slightly large for measuring an area precisely. They could be slightly smaller. I don't know if this would make them impractical to be made from ABS. If they were 1/2 the width with double the tines, then it seems this would make the measurements in some cases more accurate. But then, the tines might need to be made of metal.BOTTOM LINE: I like these adjustable gauges and have multiple carpentry & tile projects planned for them. These are certainly worth the price for a tool that can be used for years.

Have an older steel contour gauge that works ok. But, you have to be careful when transferring because u can't lock it. Have had to double ck every time. These eliminate that problem. Love them.

I picked these up on a lightening deal and am glad I did. For one they will come in handy for oddball shapes. And for two I got them for a good price so I am glad I didn't overpay as I paid about what they are worth. The plastic as well as the design is on the cheap side. A hole somewhere so they could be hung for storage would have been nice as well. All in all they will come in handy but don't count on for precision
