Great paint

My china grom clone had a leaking tank near the float , as is common with the china bikes. I didnt prep the tank at all besides a wipe down and letting it dry from all the gas that was left. I did 3 coats on the inside from the bottom of the tank to almost all the way up the top, and 2 coats on the outside only doing the bottom half of the tank. Each layer both inside and out was done with 8-10 hours of drying in between. The grey looks kind of bad compared to the black tank, but other than that the tank has held up with no leaks going on four months now. My gas mileage has also obviously improved immensly as a result. The can is a little hard to open and the sealant is somewhat runny so its hard to apply precisely and not making a mess. Disposable brushes is recommended and it somewhat comes out of clothes after a few washes but i recommend wearing work clothes.

I bought an additional can from Amazon and bought the kit from KBS. I just wanted to make sure that I had enough. As it turned out on my Harley fuel tank it was a good choice. A matter of fact, I did not use the smaller can in the kit. The tank did not have much rust in it but the problem with the tank was that the original liner was completely failing. So, I was glad that I bought the stripper from KBS. Here in California you can't get any strippers like you could get some years ago so, I was glad the I had purchased it. Don't rush the procedure as it is absolutely necessary that the inside of the tank is completely dry before pouring the paint in. Now granted it is much easier to move a motorcycle tank around in a gyration than a large tank but it is absolutely necessary. All fuel hookups need to be closed off and protected but only do this as you gyrate the tank. Then unplug and let the excess drain out after getting the inside thoroughly coated. Let the tank dry for 5 days and then it is ready to fill. This epoxy paint is amazing in that it is only one part and not catalyzed but dries super hard. I used it previously on my 1970 Moto Guzzi Ambassador 5 years ago and it is working perfectly. Take your time and don't rush and you will have great results.

I had aluminum plates welded on the ends of an aluminum boat tank as bold down mounts to use it under the deck of a flat bed trailer. Unfortunately the welder was not a good as they claimed and left several holes that I could not get to with glue. This completely sealed the holes. As it was running out of the holes, it slowly sealed them and now the tank is air tight.

I have used this product before it worked great on motorcycle and atv tanks and lawn equipment too now I am going to coat my tractor tank.

Follow the instructions to the letter and it works great. Try shortcuts and it a mess that is hard to clean up

Two things right off. 1. I have used KBS sealers a number of times. 2. READ the reviews 3 stars or less. IF you read 3 stars or less you will see rather quickly that LACK of proper prep work, WRONG prep materials were used and/or a "hurried" job was done. ANY product of this nature will only WORK if you do it RIGHT. I just did a newly constructed 45 gallon tank for my latest truck project. After fabbing the tank I took 7 DAYS to complete the sealing process. The results.....a PERFECTLY lined/sealed tank that just as other tanks I have used KBS on I fully expect to last and last. Bottom line........PREP PREP PREP.

As some other reviewers have noted, the can is all but impossible to open. It seems like the epoxy sealer gets on the inside of the lid, and is then permanently sealed in place. I eventually had to cut a hole into the top/side of the can and empty out most of the contents into a glass Mason jar.I used this to seal the inside of my Yamaha Road Star fuel tank after I had to do some welding on it. The tanks wasn't rusted at all, but I just wanted to seal it as insurance against any leaking at the new weld. I was able to seal this large tank, and then pour the remainder back into the Mason jar. I still had about half of the epoxy left. I used this to seal an old Honda Trail 90 tank that was quite rusted, but not rusted through. I still had enough left over to do another small tank after these 2, but the stuff dried out in the glass jar. I didn't have any leaks form either tank before using KBS, so I can't comment on it's leak fixing qualities, but I can say that the coating seems to be holding up just fine to the gas in the tanks. The only reason I dinged the score down from 5 stars is the problem with the cans. I ended up dumping a bunch and ended up wasting way too much of it because of a manufacturing problem.
