The FluoroSphere Next gen Lava lamp - A Fluorescent Light Show with Colorful FluoroGel

I grew up with the original Lava Lamp and always enjoyed watching it morph into the many shapes and colors. This FluoroSphere next gen lava lamp is certainly different than than the original.First, instead of heat, like the original lava lamp, this Sphere uses a LED UV light in the base for the brilliance. This is a very simple set-up with a UV light built into the base, with an easily refillable glass globe that sits upon the base. Plug it in and away you go.Second, once you fill the glass globe with water now is the time to sit back and enjoy the MAGIC of this new twist on an old favorite. You pull a small plastic plug at the top of the globe and add just a few drops of the included FluoroGel into the top opening and put the plug back in to seal it from spills.The best way to describe this is as the drops of the liquid colored FluoroGel disperses they separate into tiny tendrils like the tentacles of a jelly fish, very slowly expanding and falling to the bottom of the globe. If you don't touch the globe these colored tentacles slowly fall straight down. But if you rotate or twist the globe to cause the water inside to spin the tentacles will also slowly spin and create mesmerizing patterns as they very slowly fall the the bottom of the globe. In a darkened room the visual effect from the UV light and colored tentacles emit a peaceful and tranquil effect.Third, the major downside to this "new take" on the original lava lamp is that once all the colored FluoroGel finally reach the bottom of the globe the show is over, the colored gel does not float back up and around. So it's kind of a one and done visual experience. And to create a new visual watching experience you will need to pour out the water and gel and start all over again. The kit does come with two squeeze tubes of different colors that you decide to use drops of one or both colors. This Fluoro Globe is quite unique and beautiful to watch for about 2 hours max. Just don't expect to come back the next say, turn the base light on, and hope to see colorful shapes and figures that start up again. That isn't going to happen. This is a unique art work that will entertain you for about 2 hours before having to completely start the process all over again.I've been using this item on my patio table when I got out there after dark and just want to sit and relax for a couple hours and have the FluoroGlobe do its thing in the darkness.Not the same as a lava lamp, but it is enjoyable and creative to watch.

I got this for my wife because she loves unique lights, she opened this up on Christmas morning and she was so excited. we carefully filled it up and cleaned all the fingerprints off, set it in the middle of the table, and everyone watched as she put in the drops in and turned out the light. As we watched it was kind of unimpressive but still some cool factor as the drops started to make somewhat a design. We decided to open a few more presents and now within 1 hour, the colors were just starting to combine and started making the water orange, within 3hrs it just looked like orange water and that's it. very very disappointed.

The media could not be loaded. I got my Fluorosphere the other day and had some time to unpack it. Set-up is simple and easy with the clear instructions provided in kit. I included a video of the first time I used it and was very please with the results.After set-up, my roommate and I dimmed the lights and had some good vibes going with a record playing in the background. The colors in the sphere were vibrant and the slow steady diffusion of the gel was hypnotizing to witness. A perfect compliment to some Pink Floyd on vinyl. ;)I think I got little excited the first time (wink wink) and added a little to much gel initially. There was a small clog in the "fluorogel" bottle which caused me to squeeze a little to hard and add a bunch of gel at once. BUT, I tried it a couple more times & had even cooler results when I was little more liberal with the "fluorogel". Less is more & will get you even more uses out of your Fluorosphere before having to invest in more fluorescent gel. If you do run out of gel, you can purchase more direct from the company who makes these.Overall its a fun product, good price for value. My nephews visit in a few weeks and I plan on setting this up as a nightlight in the room they are staying in.

Not what I expected. It only last about 5 minutes

First and foremost, this is not the kind of cool decor you can just plug in and turn on when you want to enjoy the cool features of this water globe. When this interactive product arrives, you'll find a very thin glass ball with a stopper in the top, a USB uv light base, and two little bottles of colored liquid. The light base does not include a charger cube so you'll need a USB charger block on hand to connect to power. The glass glass globe will also need to be filled with water in order for this to work. Extra caution should be used when filling and moving the glass to the base, as this is thinner than expected glass and could be broken easily. There's a rubberized plug to seal the water in the globe when not cleaning, or filling, or adding the fluro gel to the water. You'd think that the gel would be put in the water right after filling, however, the feature this product was designed for, only lasts a little while after the drops are added to the water. After enjoying the cook light swirling effect,, you're left with a reddish tinted water that will need to be cleaned out, replaced with fresh water, before the cook effects can be enjoyed again. I feel like there's a lot of work required for regular and continued use of this item. I don't think I could recommend this to others and doubt I'll use it as often as I thought I would when I ordered it.

So I thought this was going to be more like a lava lamp, in that it activates and goes dormant... it doesn't. You need to rinse or wash it out when it's done doing its thing and you want to do again. HOWEVER, it looks WAY cooler than a lava lamp when it is doing its thing. 1) The green color drops are SO freaking cool. 2) it seems like the drops will last for MANNYYYYYYY uses. 3) a room of teenagers and adults just sat there in awe. it is quite cool to look at, even if it is a little annoying to have to go wash out for next use. 4) the 'show' lasts a very long time 5) dont swirl after you use the drops or it all mixes too much and turns meh. It is very cool to see it naturally mixing and dripping inside.
