Weber #64866 Valve and Regulator Assembly for Q1000 Series Grills

It works but expensive
The manufacturer charges why to much for a part that probably cost no mare than 2 dollars to make. Its a simple part to produce and evidently fails quickly. The "Q" serious BBC grills are some of the most expensive grills per sqft of space out there. Yes they are great and work well. But they are also small and very expensive. You would think they would last longer before needing a repair. I mean I could have bought 2 or 3 less expensive grills of same size that would have lasted just as long and performed good enough. So to charge > $60 to replace the regulator is pricey when you take into account you can buy a new grill with stand and wheels for ~$150. However, its a price worth paying if you want to keep this great grill which costs > $200 new. There's not much to these grills: starter, regulator, gas tube. It will be the regulator that go on these grills which are the most expensive part. If they could reduce the part to no more than $30, my rating would have been near perfect. It takes a little effort to replace but its a simple process. (Update from previous review - this valve did not last one season. I'm back buying another one again!!!!)

Can be adapted for Q2000 model
Great replacement part at a low price. I bought this for my Q2000 grill on the guess that I could change out the shorter mounting bracket, which has only two screws, to the longer bracket on my Q2k. I was right, but I found I had to also change the gas adjustment valve also. In the pic you can see the outlet orifice with the marking “.84”(assume to be .84mm) and the one in the old regulator was marked “1.01”. It worked ok with the .84 orifice, but burned hotter when I switched out to the 1.01 part. Since the orifice seat threads were different sizes I had to switch them out in the gas flow adjustment valve, which is just a pipe thread fit. Use gas line Teflon tape just to be safe. Fired it up and all is good! This is very easy stuff for the person who just has a modicum of mechanical aptitude. Don’t be afraid to take it on.

Doesn't last very long
I've owned my grill for 5 years now and this is the 3rd regulator I've had to replace. The first one went bad after only a couple of months and since I was on the road camping had to pay for that one from a hardware store even though it was under warranty. Since this is my camping grill it always goes bad on the road. This last time I just stopped grilling until the trip was over. These regulators are very cheaply made but the price doesn't reflect that. 4 regulators in 5 years is ridiculous.

They changed the bracket
When I tried to install this replacement part I discovered that the bracket was slightly different from the original and would not install. I love this little grill and we never had a problem until the regulator crapped out. Luckily the bracket holes in the replacement were identical to the holes in the original so I simply dissasembled the bracket and the regulator and switched out the brackets. Voila!! New old grill Whew.

WEBER SUCKS REAL BAD NO WARRANTY USED VERY LITTLE
Definitely would not purchase this again. Product failed in less than a year and was told by the manufacturer that there was no warranty on it because it wasn't purchased directly through them. It says here that this comes directly from Weber but they disagree. Now I have to purchase this at full price again because they don't even offer you a discount even though their product failed.
