How long does it take for the water to evaporate?

It depends on how much water you use, but typically it evaporates in just a few minutes.

What does "proper care" mean? I am thinking of buying these for an art classroom, and I want to know what can break the board. Thanks!

Don't get oils on the sponge pad. Keep it clean water only

Has anyone tried this with a toddler? I'm worried it would only be better for an older child.

There is one for kids....I don't remember who makes it. Pink or blue ones. Bigger than the little one. But then again I think a toddler would have fun with either big or little Budda Board....its just water. Bigger brushes easier for little hands. So bigger board would be preferable for young age.
