Screw Drive Carriage Pull for Genie Garage Door Opener 36179R.S 34107R.S (aftermarket)

This replacement was perfect. I have an older Genie screw drive garage door opener. I didn’t know if this would fit but I took a chance because of the price. It fit perfectly! It seems these carriages are standard size and the “teeth” fit as needed. It took me 10 minutes to change out. I really like the pull down. My previous one didn’t have one.My only concern I have is its life but for the price it’s easily replaceable. I also expect to last long because I rarely open my garage anyway.

Original part literally snapped off at the trolley when attempting to manually operate the door. I considered I may need a new assembly altogether which is never a great feeling. After some light research, I figured out this was the root cause and ordered this part. Problem solved $16 later.Installation is very easy, just know it does not come with any installation hardware, but I was able to reuse my old pins to hold it in place.

The media could not be loaded. This is a relatively easy job once you have your tools and ladder ready. Be prepared that this is a dirty job! These trolleys get very grimy.I’ve replaced this a few times over the years. I blame that design flaw on Genie and not necessarily the trolley. But I’m not about to spend $1,000+ on a new opener.In my video, you’ll notice that the door doesn’t open the first attempt. I forgot to engage the trolley teeth. Then on the second attempt, you’ll notice that the track binds and bends. I had latched the door to manually lock it overnight and forgot to unlatch it. I almost broke the new trolley! D’oh!Be sure to lube the trolley with a gel (not WD-40). I used 1st Ayd penetrating gel #80. Gloves might help keep your hands clean, but I don’t mind.On another note, if your trolley keeps breaking, you might have a broken garage door spring. Check everything first. I had a professional come out the first time this happened and they replaced the springs.Good luck and buy two at a time so you have one handy!

This works fine however these don’t have parts numbers on them and it is hard to tell which ones will fit. It was a bit smaller and we had to adjust the sensors but overall did the job.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! Garbage product. I easily installed this carriage onto the garage door track, but it wouldn't work! Spent two hours in my hot garage trying to figure out the problem. The magnet that trips the sensors was missing from the new carriage! I took the magnet out of the old carriage, and put it in the new one. It works perfectly. I guess this company has zero quality control.

The screw drive carriage pull for genie garage fits well and appears well made. It replaced the worn out original part perfectly. It came with a string and holder but not with the pulley pin and retainer. The original lasted for more than a decade at the least. Hopefully this will lasr around the same lifetime.I would recommend keeping your existing pulley pin and retainer as also, applying some grease on the teeth part before installation.

Perfect replacement for worn out original.Took about 5 minutes to replace. This didn’t come with any grease so I applied a heavy dollop to the teeth before installing. Got about 28 years of use from the original. Hope this one lasts 1/2 as long!
