Using active noise canceling will help silence outside sound the Hesh ANC headset does not have the bass drivers like the Crusher wireless headset.

Yes, you can activate the headphones/the noise cancelling without connecting to another device/playing music. I use this feature myself sometimes. I feel that the noise cancelling is adequate but unfortunately cannot offer any direct comparisons to other headphones/brands.
