Is the item quantity three per the description (3-gallons)?

There's a selection box next to the item description where you choose a quantity. The 3 gal case actually cost almost twice what 3 individual gallons cost as of this writing. [ $13 for 1ga($39)l vs $64 for the 3gal unit case]

I wouldn't go synthetic in a 34 year old system. If you're serious about doing it right I suggest cleaning the hoses THOROUGHLY then keep an eye on them. Replace any leaking hoses at this time.
