Sony NP-FG1 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack for Select Digital Cameras

This (real) Sony NP-FG1 battery is a replacement model for the earlier "G" designation batteries. It works great, and because it is a real Sony and is rated to do so, will actually accurately report the time left when used with the DSC-HX9V camera. A very good buy at a much more reasonable price than list, and is the real thing. Five stars.(Note: My strategy, and I use it only as my own, is to have a couple of "authentic" batteries like this that provide accurate time and status information on the camera's display, and then supplement these with a couple of the no-name off-brand batteries. They may not last as long between recharges, and they don't accurately report remaining charge on the camera's display, but I can use my two "real" batteries first, and then, if needed, pop in the others to end the day off. Bought this about 2.5 months ago after learning my daughter's 3 y/o camera wouldn't power up, and the stock battery was all icky / leaking looking. I've never had a li-on battery get bad like this, but since I'm reviewing this replacement and not the original, it gets all 5 stars. As others have mentioned it is compatible with the info-lithium capabilities of some cameras which guesses at time remaining and not just a "fuel" gauge. Capacity seems fine and holds a charge as expected. Some reviewers report suspicion of getting a fake battery - I didn't notice any funny business with the battery or packaging, ordered from seller "AC365". When in doubt and the prices are close, just click on the XX New button and order direct from Amazon for best odds and easiest returns. An aside - the leaking battery (which was left in the charger, unplugged, for months at a time) messed up the charger and I replaced that with Sony BC-CSG OEM Battery Charger for NP-BG1, NP-FG1 battery with success.

I enjoy Sony products because they are always high quality and in the photo arena give the capacity to produce amazing results. Additionally their Infolithium batteries provide the best shelf life and longevity. Consequently I prefer and typically purchase Sony, as in this case.Amazon? I use Amazon because;1. it is easy2. typically the price is better (less) than anything available to me at retail stores3. they often have products before anyone else4. product reviews and detailed information is better than what I can learn from the box.5. Service. Occasionnally a shipping or quality problem arises and with Amazon it is always quickly resolved! Awesome customer service! Even the partner vendors move fast and deliberately!

Please be warned that there are plenty of sellers selling knock-off batteries or China-sourced batteries that are often incompatible with US camera models. I made the mistake of trying to buy one of the cheaper versions of the battery and it would not work in my Sony DSC-HX9V. I would receive a "For use with compatible batteries only" message whenever I put in the camera.After getting my refund, I bought the more expensive version from Amazon (still much cheaper than buying directly from Sony) and it works great. The packaging was clearly for the US market and the battery is clearly genuine.I'd recommend you save yourself some aggravation and second-guessing and just buy from Amazon instead of one of the many resellers.

I use this with my Sony DSC-HX10V camera as this is a direct replacement for the original supplied with the camera..OH and love the camera as the best GPS on any of my (3) such equiped cameras. Get more than 200+ shots per charge and 30+ minutes of video and still has more to offer. Bought some on &%#@ and claimed to be orginal...no way and got my money back through PayPal after I filled claim...buy the "real thing" and save yourself some hassles and have a great product..plus I prefer to buy only from Amazon and not from other vendors where fulfilled by Amazon...been a faithful customer for 6 years now and have never let me down...so highly recommend the battery as a direct replacement..but then it is a Sony...order one and you can not go wrong.
