Is the product acrylic or silicon? Description say both. Also is it dishwasher safe?

Round part is silicone. Jewel knob is acrylic. I wouldn't put these in dishwasher as the jewel knobs could come off. You have to actually put these on when you get them. They're really easy to slip into the slot. I hand wash mine.

Does anyone use these to cover their teacup while brewing their tea? If so, how well does it work?

I bought these as a gift for a hot tea drinker and that is how she uses them. The work well to keep debris out of the cup and keep the air in. She also uses them to squeeze the teabag out when brewing is done, and this works well.

is the suction too tight when you want to take a drink?

If I understand you correctly, No. I use the lid to cover my coffee in the microwave. It is not tight at all. When I am ready to drink the beverage, I just take the lid off, after it is warmed. It is very loose, and the circumference is large than the mouth of the cup.

Is this usable with a straw?

Hi! I’ve purchased these and I use a Little Spoon to stir my coffee, etc, and I used a sharp knife to slice a slit the size of the Handle and I also use a SS Straw, Using a X cut to fit my straw... and WhaLah! Done! I push both through from the cut underneath. The hold very well. No problem. The cuts close very nicely with/without the straw:) I hope You find this helpful? Enjoy!
