Ryobi
Excellent product at a very competitive price, I have several other ryobi products and have always found them to be high quality. And having one rechargeable battery for numerous other garden and DIY products is convenient and space saving.

Easier than a hand tool
I bought this as it is becoming more difficult to use hand tools especially slab gap knifes. A few year ago, a small hand held slab gap knife was okay but then bending became difficult. A long handled knife solved the 'bending' problem but hand holding it, and exerting enough pressure, was difficult. An alternative, less physical, instrument was what I needed and had a look at various makes but was attracted by Ryobi because one of their batteries fits so many different tools made by them. This was my first Ryobi purchase which arrived today and I have used it already so this is a 'first impressions' review.First, the cost. At just over £100 it seemed expensive but it seems solidly made and think the price is justified.Second, battery. It is important to know that this comes without a battery. Ryobi describes all their tools without batteries 'bare' tools and so, if like me, you buy a first Ryobi tool you must buy a battery. I opted for the 5.0 Am for maximum power and duration. That cost £82.00 which I also purchased from Amazon. See: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0117BTDT4?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsTotal cost: £183+Thirdly, a mistake! I naively assumed that with these two items I was ready to start clearing the weeds between my garden slabs. Wrong! The battery needs a dedicated Ryobi battery charger. I ordered that today for delivery tomorrow. The charger cost £48.00+Total cost now £263+First use: the battery was partially charged and so I was able to use the tool without having to wait for the charger. There is no doubt that this Ryobl make sturdy machines - at least judging from this patio cleaner. It is powerful and made short work of removing the weeds, moss etc., that had sprung up in-between the slabs over the winter (how to weeds mange to grow during the winter when nothing else does!?).The weeds are 'dug up' by a high-speed rotary wire brush (see picture) and although this worked well because the soil was damp it soon became clogged with soil and garden detritus. The plastic guard surrounding the wire brush soon became filled with soil etc. which put a bit of a strain on the motor. If the guard was wider that might solve that problem? Of course, not using the tool when the ground was so damp might also help but by then the weeds would be that much bigger! Conclusion. Thus far, I am impressed with this 'weeds in between slabs remover' (Ryobi calls it a 'Patio Cleaner' which is a tad misleading) and think it is far better (for me at least) than using a hand tool. The catch is that the cost of these three items was more than £250, and is, at first glance ridiculous. However, the point in buying Ryobi tools is that one battery fits all their products whether it is a drill, fan, sander or lawnmower (there are over 100 tools in the range) and therefore the cost of a battery reduces dramatically for each additional tool you buy - but then again you are pretty much tied to Ryobi products for that reason. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up to you...

Very good product
Firstly, when a product is advertised as ‘bare’ it means that it comes without a battery. So to all those people that are saying that it is not advertised correctly all I can say is read the description properly. Now to the product itself.Brilliant. It does exactly what it says. I have a patio at the rear of my property that continuously gets moss and weeds in the cracks. Every year I use to get down on my hands and knees and painfully remove it. It took for ever and was boring. Now with this little beauty it’s done in a jiffy. Yes, it makes your back and hands ache a little but tell me any manual job that doesn’t !!Now to the battery.I use an 18v 2.0ah. It can last anywhere from 10 mins to 20 mins all depending on how hard you push the machine into the ground. Meaning, if you have a deep crack with lots of weeds in it you will tend to work the machine into to crack and push down a bit harder. This will obviously put more pressure onto the battery reducing its life. Also if it is removing a lot of debris the brush will start to clog up so be mindful of this and stop and clear the debris out so that the brush moves more freely, then you will get a longer life out of the battery. Use the machine more often, so that there are less weeds to remove. This helps in two ways, it’s quicker so no need to labour over lots of weeds and you will then get over 20 mins run time on the battery. So to those people moaning about the life of the battery, you must take these situations into account then you will understand why you’re not getting the best life out of it.Summary.Read the advert before you buy.Don’t expect to get lots of life out of a battery when you are working it too hard.Stick to these basic rules and you will have a product that will do you proud.Hope this review helps. 😉

Patio cleaner with wire brush. Very impressed, performs well
Very pleased with how this patio cleaner performs. I ordered the model without thr battery pack (make sure you order the right one!) Cleared all the weeds out of the patio in short time, I deliberately worked around the two little strawberry plants. didn't need to re-charge either. Would recommend.
