Q: is there a way to remove the "washer collar" from the wein 625?

Use a 675 zinc-air hearing aid battery you get 10 for the price of 1 or 2 weinCells and each lasts as long, at worst 2/3 as long. It doesn't have the collar and fits everywhere a weincell does.

Q: Does this work for a canon tl ql?

Yes. I have 3 canon ftb ql and 1 Canon ft ql cameras and they do work in them all.

Q: Will this work for my Minolta srt 101????

Yes. I use this all the time in my SRT 101.

Q: Does the collar need to be removed for camera use?

No, if you need a smaller sized battery, then you need a different battery. These are sized appropriately. You can also check the battery compartment to see if it has been altered to accommodate a smaller battery.
