What is the weight of just the iron itself?

The shipping weight is 3 lbs. So I would suspect the actual iron is less than that

Can you charge this when it off so it is not heating all the time? There really are no specific directions on charging in the manual.

I’m not sure how to answer your question, but will share my experience when I have used it. This iron does not have the capability to charge long term and use later. The iron doesn’t stay on for long after use. Once it has heated up, you have about 30-45 seconds to use until it turns off. Put it back on the base and it take a minute or so to heat up. If you don’t grab it afer it charges, it will turn itself off. Hope this helps!

Is the non stick plate stainless steel?

The plate has a Teflon coating.

Why does the red light blink?

It stays red red as it is charging and goes out when fully charged. It blinks after a period of inactivity before it shuts down, if i remember correctly. I encourage you to cross check this with the owners manual because I am answering from my memory..
