RAD Cycle Woody Bike Stand Bicycle Rack Storage or Display Holds Two Bicycles and is Constructed of Stylish Hard Wood

Surprisingly good deal on a very nice looking and quite practical stand for storing one or two bikes in a small space without damage to the walls or floor.Based on other reviews of this product, I was a little skeptical, but quit attracted to the design, so decided it was worth a try, and must say I’m quite impressed with the aesthetics and value of this rack.I works perfectly for me to accommodate two bikes in a snug, high visibility space, right behind the entry door to my apartment, where the owners don’t want as much as a drywall anchor hole marking up their walls. This was a solution to a bit of a tricky challenge, and one I’m very pleased with.I heeded the advice of previous commenters, and was careful to crank the floor tensioners down quite hard (see note below regarding this process), and did utilize the two ceiling screws, which are not designed to be load bearing at all, but are sufficient for keeping the ceiling plate from unwittingly drifting under use and weather changes.I recommend grabbing a wrench to occasionally check the force on the tension screws in the floor plate to accommodate slight structural shift as seasonal weather changes if you are in an area with significant temperature swing (this could be the cause of some of the failures I’ve read about).This rack does not grip the frames, but rather cradles it in two points, requiring some balance of the bike on the two points. Because top-tubes on various bikes come in at different angles, some creativity with the hangers is required, but not too much! A mountain bike I have hanging, for example, angles upward as it approaches the handlebars at such an angle that the bike would be tempted to slide backwards out of balance. Simply hooking the rear hanger behind the seat post at the top point in the rear triangle (see picture) solved this problem easily. My other bike has a downward sloping tube and required a higher rear hanger. The flex a bit which helps to self balance, and this process is somewhat intuitive because a more level bike will be more aesthetically pleasing anyway.Also, setting the tension on the floor bolts is a bit of a repetitive process, since tightening one bolt will relieve some pressure on the other, which then must be tightened, and so on. You think you’re done then, but check again! Take your time with this, not trying to crank it to it’s limit on first try. You’ll be able to gradually and more evenly snug it down this way, and get the stand relying more evenly on the full structure, as it was designed. Once secured it’s impressively stable and strong.

Not all the holes lined up perfectly and a little hard to put together with the tools provided but I luckily had a friend with a drill who helped me. I love the wood look

Even after reading dozens of reviews I decided to go against my better judgement and try this bike rack based on the images on the listing. It arrived in a torn open box and the delivery driver waiting for me to review the contents before leaving. She didn’t feel comfortable leaving it and asked to take it back. I should have listened to her. I should have refused it but decided to keep it. I unboxed everything and initially noticed the longest wood parts were warped, the holes had several chips showing that the manufacturing process is to cut to length, stain and then drill holes and no where in between did it include sanding the wood prior. What made me box it up and give up on it was that one of the two parts that are on the bottom with the silver bolts that act as height adjustment feet was drilled incorrectly in that it was upside down and I finally had enough as I was attempted to assemble the unit by looking at the listing images as the one thing that was missing was the instruction manual. Do yourself a favor and hold out for something else. This unit is Chinese manufacturing and no quality control or assurance at its worst. Sad as it could have been a nice looking design if properly executed.

This sturdy bike rack looks super nice and is really easy to assemble! Some of the wood was just a little warped but all the holes aligned and it had all the right parts! It also looks so much better than the metal racks. I was a little worried about the tension aspect and whether it would hold or not but it has been a month now and we haven't had any problems just using tension. It also comes with screws for the ceiling if you want to install them, but they are optional.

the rack itself looks nice and has been sturdy so far, however two downsides: 1) i am almost positive that they didn't provide the right screws if you want to mount two bikes, and 2) there was some warping that made it hard, but not impossible, to assemble

For myself and my girlfriend, this is a great rack to store our two bikes in our small apartment. It looks classy and holds the bikes just like it should. My bike is approximately 35 lbs and hers is 28 lbs or so.We have had zero issues with the rack moving or falling down over six months of use, and let's just say she is less gentle than me putting her bike onto the rack, so I think if we were going to have any problems we would have had it happen already.One important thing to mention with ANY tension-bar is that you need to make sure you go back and forth A LOT with the tension screws getting it up there as tight as possible against the ceiling and floor. Also, you need a flat ceiling.Assembly is tedious but straightforward, lots of parts but once you get moving it goes together quickly. The hardest part is getting the height right.We put some anti-slip furniture pads on the top of the rack to help grip the ceiling just in case.One nice thing we did too was put some 3M hooks on the backside of the rack to store our helmets as our rack divides our entryway and living space.Overall I am super happy with this product.
