Richard Ayoate is hysterical.
I love this guy's humor but it isn't for everyone. Go to You Tube & check him out before you by the book.

I "LOL'd" at least once every chapter.
This is probably the most bizarrely funny book I've read. The best part is if you're already quite familiar with Ayoade's works you get to hear the whole thing in his many intonations in your head.

The Perfect Joke
This is a tribute to Ayoade's wit, brillig, and humor. It tackles some difficult concepts, but the reader does not experience the difficulty. Instead the concepts are packaged into layers of self demeaning litanies and humorous anecdotes; until you get lost in the layers and like an onion you find there is no center. There is no point. The joy of this book is the journey, not the destination.Reminds me of a modern Lewis Carrol. Ayoade is a master of nonsense.

Richard Ayoade is Cool. Really.
So actually I'd say 4 1/2 stars because there was one section I found boring, but other sections made up for it. But you can't choose 4 1/2 stars, and I was always taught to round up on 0.5 and above, except if it's an even number, then just drop it, but this isn't quantitative analysis so I went with the regular rounding rules and thus 5.I only recently was pointed to the presence of The IT Crowd, and despite having children, a husband, dogs and an almost full time job, I managed, in very short order, a massive Hulu/YouTube binge of all things Ayoade, including Gadget and Travel Man, which led me here, plus gave me an appreciation, additionally, for British quiz panel shows and a desire to move to the UK which will undoubtedly subside soon. This book, although clearly extremely loosely autobiographical, still manages to provide insight into its double protagonist (Ayoade the interviewee and Ayoade the interviewer). Thanks for writing this, I enjoyed it, except, as others noted, on the Kindle the footnotes were a bear.

Strange and Chuckling Experience
I am a fan of Richard Ayoade’s comedy style, so I decided to check out his quirky and comical interview with himself. It was lightly entertaining in a puzzling kind of way. It is not a book that will keep you glued, but if you are looking for a few moments of smirking good fun then you have found it here. This kind of comedy is not for everyone. And it likely will help you if you are a film buff/student/practitioner, but it is not necessary.I will admit I read a few pages at a time over about a year time frame before finishing it.It was a strange and chuckling experience.

This is great fun.
What a gem of a book. I'm not the brightest guy. I find myself having to re-read a sentence now and then until it sinks in. But what a payoff! It's very densely and cleverly written; and worth every minute. I've been reading it a little at a time and savoring every morsel. Now I'm starting to hear his voice in my head as I read. This is great fun.

A master at his craft!
He's utterly brilliant.

Buy this book now! But buy the paper version, not the Kindle version.
I purchased this book on Kindle because I love Ayoad's work on The IT Crowd and I was hoping for a laugh. The book does not disappoint. It's quirky and odd and just what I wanted. The only problem with it is that there are numerous funny footnotes that do not work at all well in the Kindle version. You should purchase the paper version of this book instead. I am doing that now, so I can get the full effect. Which means I have to purchase the book twice. Totally worth it.
