Great books for teaching children to read in English and Spanish

Perfect for my 1 year old nephew

I love curious George and being able to bring this to my bilingual son means the world. It is so hard to find classic children’s book in Spanish and have the quality and story be the same.

I bought this book to be given to immigrant children who are being helped by our local Grannies Respond group that meets the Greyhound busses that arrive at least 3 times a day at our Louisville KY bus station. Immigrant families are on their way to their sponsors or family members in other cities and states; and they usually have nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Some have even arrived without shoes. Grannies Respond provide these families with snacks,water,and some of the bare necessities for their travel. We collect small toys as well as clothes and diapers for the children.

Cute for baby gift for bilingual parents

The story line is a tad weird. I can’t tell if it’s a translation issue or just a storyline that’s not the usual for Margaret & HA Ray. It sort of seems like it was originally written in Spanish and has an awkward English translation? Not sure. But also the way George rescues the baby penguin doesn’t make much sense in English or Spanish.

Love how the book is bilingual. Bought as a gift. Super cute!
