Built to fit, but not perfect
This L bracket fits beautifully around the base. The magnetic tools are a masterful touch, completing the package. Access to the battery compartment is through a well engineered segment that you push outward, this acts an additional catch to the battery door, preventing you from inadvertently opening the battery door. The inclusion of the leather to the front and side of the bracket gives it a feel of being part of the camera, i have fixed mine to the my camera and that's where it will stay. Staying with the base, I wasn't sure if this bracket would work for me as I have a camera strap which is connected via a plate with a 1/4 screw (pic 5). Needn't have worried as you can see in (pic 4) there are quite a few 1/4 holes to choose from. The side/vertical part of the bracket, allows access to the various connections on the side of the camera, these can be opened and cables plugged in without having to remove the bracket (I had to carryout a minor adjustment to line up the bracket with the camera.).So far, so good! Great build quality and design, this almost gets a 10 out of 10, the one area that stops this being the best L bracket (imho!) is the vertical part of the bracket. If I want to flip out the screen I'm limited as to how far it can be opened without adjusting the vertical element of the bracket, even then it still restricts free movement of the screen. How much of an annoyance this will be in real world use I'm not sure, as this is my first camera with a screen that has this type of screen flexibility.

Great for the A7R4
Usual Smallrig excellent build quality, fit and function.Solid Arca Swiss plates without the twisting you can get from a standard tripod plate.Adds depth to grip for greatly improved ergonomics.Flat base for putting your camera down.Clever battery door access design.Adds a bit of heft which improves IBIS performance. The vertical arm can double as a grip for extra stability.Removable vertical arm if not needed.Quick and easy to remove with integrated tools if you want to travel light. Can't fault it

Always Smallrig
Always buy the small rig version due to the manufacturing as it is sturdy and every detail is thought out for the user.

Battery door hinge broken off
Like some other reviews on here state, the hinge door has fallen off and been lost. I can still use the bracket on my Sony A1 but now it isn’t as comfortable to use, as my little finger has nowhere to rest. I do like smallrig products but feel let down with the quality of this bracket. I would not buy another one until the design has been changed.

Makes Sony mirrorless bodies more comfortable
I've don't have massive hands yet always found the grip on Sony mirrorless bodies a bit "short". My right little finger either awkwardly grips around the bottom edge if I squeeze my fingers together or goes underneath the camera and becomes sore. The weight of vertical grips when using a dual camera holster is not ideal - great for dual battery continuity but not for shoulder comfort on an all day event. I also wanted a way of quickly using the camera in portrait mode on a tripod for headshots, and quickly take it off again to shoot the event. This L-bracket ticks all the boxes: somewhere for my right finger to comfortably sit and lightning fast in/out of tripod using an arca Swiss plate. The vertical L portion of the bracket can be extended and locked out from the body. The point is to add clearance to the connection ports for USB-C, HDMI, audio etc. if you're rigging the body up for video work. A bonus win of this is that even without rigging the camera up with a monitor or microphone, I like to extend this L bit which acts as a minimalist "handle" to support the camera when doing run and gun filming. For SpiderPro holster users...I sometimes use the dual mirrorless Holster for events, and the "mirrorless" Spider plates DO NOT fit these L-brackets (screw attachment). You'd either need to remove the L-brackets or buy the the new SpiderPro clamps which fit via arca Swiss to these L-brackets.For HoldFast moneymaker style hardness users... no problem using these L-brackets.Buying one of these brackets for each of my Sony bodies. Recommended!

Good L bracket but.
I was out photographing the deer rut and heard something fall into the autumn leaves. I searched around and found that the piece that you have to open to access the battery compartment had dropped off, the screw/bolt had not been loctited during manufacture. So now to find a replacement preferably from Smallrig.

L Brackets
Perfect addition to my new Sony a7Rv. A good fit and well made. Having previously used SmallRig L Brackets on my Sony A7r iiia I knew the standard of product would be excellent and had no need to look at other makes.

Works perfectly
Bought this as a replacement for the folding version L Bracket on my Sony A7R5, which i found extremely uncomfortable and unwieldy (All credit to Smallrig for trying something new though). This was a perfect replacement and because of the new clever flip-screen that Sony revealed on the A7R5 (and hopefully to come on all future cameras of every camera company, because it's That good) i had no trouble using the flip screen whatsoever. It's almost perfect. About 95% perfect. The remaining 5% could be acquired by adding the lovely rubber parts from the version I didn't like. That was a really good idea and could even save a camera from damage. Well done, Smallrig. You made me completely forget the more expensive manufacturers of L brackets. Very much recommended.
