Salem is content with the caps once they’re on! We are happy to not be bleeding anymore!
We rescued this beautiful kitten named Salem and we sucked up being punctured like a fish on a hook and being scratched up for over 2 weeks. I just couldn’t do it anymore, so I hunted for solutions that are more humane than getting her declawed. After some research, this is the brand we decided to go with. I’ll preface by saying, this was a two-man job with our kitten. She was mad at us for trimming her nails and she was mad at us for putting these rubber claw caps on. Momma cat your little baby by grabbing their scruff to help console and control them and just get it done. We opted for the clear caps so we could better see the glue level as others had said that part was tough. You can wrap your cat in a blanket to control them if you’re by yourself, but it’s still tough to apply by yourself one-handed.Today we applied these caps for the 2nd time. There were 3 caps remaining in place after the 1st application, but her nails have shed naturally and the caps go with them. I consider this a huge pro because you don’t have to worry about damaging their nails or having to remove them. They also fit into the nail sheath as her real nail does naturally. It didn’t take her long to get used to the claws and we made sure to reward her with treats throughout the process. We only cap her front paws as she doesn’t really scratch us with the back ones. She can move, climb, and grab things just as well as she normally would without the caps. She can scratch too! But it doesn’t hurt 😉I’ve noticed she continues to use her scratching post, so the caps don’t seem to bother her once they’re on, they just aren’t comfortable to put on at first. The cons are: hard to apply if you’re by yourself, don’t last a super long time (as it falls off as their nails shed naturally), and it’s obvious that it is not comfortable to receive a nail trim and have the caps applied during the process - she made it clear to us that she was unhappy.

Brilliant, Easy, Good Value
Brilliant. Brilliant. BRILLIANT! A fantastic alternative to claw removal. We have two cats, one is 3 years old and one is 3 months old. We have now applied these nail covers two times. The furniture and carpets are protected, the nails are easy and quick to apply, after the first application (and tantrum), the nails are completely humane to apply! $10 a year? Very worth it.The first time, the older cat screamed bloody murder, tried to pull her paws away and in general, had a tantrum. The kitten was also grumpy, but easier to handle. Regardless, both cats were quite easy to apply the nails to. First I snipped off the tips of their claws (the white portion of the claw), then my boyfriend (who was assisting the operation) passed me a claw full of glue. I slipped the claw on, and between 15 to 30 seconds later, the claw was permanent. I didn't have any problems with the glue drying before I could put the claw on. After all of the claws were attached, I held the cats for a couple minutes and released them. They both washed their paws throughly, and we would gently take their paws out of their mouth. After the first night, they no longer felt a need to pick at their new claws. Neither cat pulled off their claws. Total application took 20-30 minutes for both cats (we read the instructions twice). The second time we applied the nails, it was roughly 4-5 weeks after the first application. The kitten had lost all but 3 of his, the older cat had lost only 3. Both cats were very good during this application, they didn't cry and were quite agreeable. After I released them, they went about their business like nothing had happened. The application took 10 minutes for both cats. They still use their scratching post, they still stretch and retract their claws. If I had anything to be upset about, it would be that the sparkly claws don't show all of the time! Because cats naturally have their claws pulled in most of the time, you rarely see the pretty colors. The sparkly ones look like tasteful glitter nail polish (if there is such a thing). The purple are a nice, solid color and the clear are good for any cat that doesn't like to show off. Although they do have a bit of a sheen to them, so don't expect them to be unnoticeable. My only advice is that there is no need to try and conserve glue-- you will have more than enough. The caps seal well, so we are still working on our first tube of glue.As for sizes...the 3 month old kitten seems to fit the small size well, and the 13 pound, large female seems to fit well in the medium size (she might possibly be able to fit a small).

Pros and Cons
The negatives: I've ordered these in two different sizes this go round. First shipment months ago was fine, but my cat has grown and needs a mix of both medium and small. The small kit I got this time had 2 opened and empty used glue bottles, no tips and used/missing/mixed sizes of caps. The medium kit had small caps in it. Both are being sent back for a refund. The price also fluctuates as I've noticed, so I will check elsewhere if this is the quality I'm going to get. It's a hassle to return and frustrating when I really need these and cant wait for a replacement to be sent. ***Reason for 3 stars***The pros: The cleat lock on these is fantastic. Just don't overfill with too much glue. They stay on as long as the caps are allowed to adequatelt dry and bond to the claw. I put a cone (collar of shame) on my cat before these are applied and allow about 20 minutes for them to set. This method keeps Mr. Busy from immediately pulling them all off or running around and loosening them. I know it sounds horrible and he glares at me and pouts for a bit, but those suckers stay on after they've dried. This is the only way I can get them to really stay on for as long as 3-4 weeks. He eventually pulls them off or loses a few along the way as he tears around the house, but overall I'm impressed. My furniture has been saved and my cat seems to forget they're on after awhile.Highly recommend, but check to make sure you get a new, unopened package and that everything is in there that's supposed to be. Also, giving treats during application helps take your cats mind off this horrible injustice.

Butter your cat
So far so good. I put these on my kitten for the first time and it felt successful. Catch them when they’re sleepy and put butter on the opposite paw to distract them while the treated paw dries. This worked better than expected. And he didn’t seem to care/notice at all that they’re affixed to his claws. The only downside is the kit doesn’t come with enough narrow glue applicators.
