Very realistic - Worth a shot for pesky birds
The media could not be loaded. Update 2/16/2019: This owl decoy worked great for 2-3 days but the birds must have figured out it was fake. They now pay no attention to it and perch right on my truck mirror like they did prior to me buying this. Your geographical location and placement of this will ultimately decide whether or not this will work for you. Because of this reason, and the fact that it is solidly built, I feel it still deserves the 5 star rating.Original review:Check my video for a demonstration on how this little guy works. So far I’m very impressed and it has stopped all bird activity (pooping) near my truck. Also one thing I forgot to mention in the video was in regard to the mounting base. There are 3 holes facing downward and 3 supplied wood screws for mounting this to a fixed base. I decided to use some heavier duty deck screws that I knew wouldn’t rust. The included screws would have probably worked fine but I cannot attest to that.If the birds get used to it, or this product fails in any way, I will update this review.

This owl has helped us with crow control.
I bought this owl to keep the crows at a distance. I attached it on top of a 4x4 post with nails. The crows flew very close the 1st day. We did not have much wind so the head was not moving much so for fun I got out my hose and sprayed it and the head began turning and the crows flew away. I do this every now and then so that the head is moving and facing a different direction. When I hear the crows are gathering, I get out my hose and off they go for days. They no longer wake me at 5:30 a.m. or disturb cocktail time on the patio. The owl has saved me from having to get out the shot gun.

Realistic looking Owl
Good price, fast shipping. Hope it works to scare off the birds that are leaving their droppings on my pool cage screens. But after a week the owl isn't working. I live in middle Florida and the mockingbirds have realized quickly that if the Owl doesn't move it's probably fake. They fly up to the corner of the cage and sit behind the owl. But it worked for the first few days.

Cool...but not an effective deterrent.
It is nicely made and interesting to look at. The directions are lacking. There is a small plastic piece that comes with no explanation. After examination I found it to be an air foil that is supposed to catch wind and turn the head. It might work somewhere but it doesn't work here in North Carolina. I purchased it to see if it would keep crows away from spring nests, didn't t work either. Right now the owl is flanked by a mockingbird and cardinal...taking selfies. Nothing seems to be very concerned about the owl.

Lightweight, Colorful, Filling with 5# of Rice
We live in the Northwest Suburbs of IL for 28 yrs and never have had a hawk sighting. Last summer 2017, our neighbor's pine tree plays host to a hawk's nest about 200 feet from our home. Numerous sightings by neighbors have seen the birds attacking animals in surrounding yards and now OUR yard! They prey on small rabbits and small animals and we bought these hoping they would deter the hawks away from our small cat. Grateful also that our neighbor said they have worked for them in the past. I posted 2 so far and not sure if they work but will see in time. Great quality product and takes about 5lb of rice to weigh it down. Head bobbles, but a strong wind is needed for the heads to move on their own. NOTE: some sort of small plastic piece with 2 screws were included for WHAT we don't know? NO instructions were included. We've also heard that it is a good idea to move them around the yard to fake out the hawks who are pretty smart if they remain stationary.

So Far So Good
Before I bought 3 of these owls I have a neighbor who thinks it is great to feed every bird in the county. Some days I would look out my back yard and see over 50 plus birds sitting on my fence, on my shed, patio furniture, and enjoying my pool for a bird bath and food cleaning. Not to mention all the bird poop that came along with it. So instead of collecting homeless feral cats to release on my neighbor, I decided to deter in a more legal matter. I bought 3 owls and place one at my pool and two over looking my neighbors yard on the fence. The first two days not much improvement with no wind. But once the wind started blowing the little owl head started moving...........HA. There is no trace of a birds withing a block. And yes the owls look awesome moving. My dog barked a little at them but the birds are gone as of a week. Those eyes......

This does nothing to deter birds and other critters in the garden. Total waste of money.
This does absolutely nothing to deter birds and critters in the garden. Even on a windy day the head does not turn, although it does bob around. A big disappointment.

Seems to do the job, ordering a 2nd since it cracked
It doesn't really rotate its head no matter how wind there is, so that's a negative. But since I put it out last summer, the amount of bird poop on my deck has been reduced to virtually none, so i'm guessing it has worked at keeping the birds away. I used rice to weigh it down, but it's blown off a few times and the body finally cracked when it fell on the ice. I'm going to replace it with a new one!
