My new road/hybrid bike came with Presta valves and although I have a nice mini pump I keep on the bike for out and about emergencies, I wanted something to make pumping up the tyres at home more convenient.With my previous bike, which had Schrader vales, I just used the car foot pump. I tried this on the Presta valves with an adapter which came with the pump, but I lost more air than I got into the tyres as the fit was terrible.These valve adapters are miles better. The O ring seals between the adapter and Presta valve without any noticeable leakage. It seems to be just the right length to allow the foot pumps lock mechanism to depress the Presta valve so you also get a pressure reading while pumping, one of the adapters I previously had was too long for this to work and the other too short.The Schrader side of the adapter fits well into the foot pump head, though this fit will depend a bit on the quality of the pump and how worn the rubbers are. The only issue I had was down to the foot pump failing. First, as the bike tyre pressures are 100-120psi, the pipe from the pump body came off at the head end, then at the pump end. The pump also struggled to get up to the 100psi minimum without leakage in the cylinder. I think my next purchase is a new foot pump!
