Just received the egg boiler/poacher today. Had to use it right away of course. I’m hopeless at poaching eggs despite trying all sorts of different methods. I buttered the poacher well before cracking in the eggs, poured the water into the poacher to produce medium poached eggs, then waited to see the result. My eggs were perfectly cooked and didn’t stick. They slid out easily onto the toast. Great result!

This is a quality product for the price. The stainless steel is appreciated over plastic, the base is solid and heavy with a metal hotplate, the switch feels solid, and so on. The egg holder is the main plastic part that is inside it, but that's not really a problem since the eggs don't crack during cooking like they might in a saucepan on the stove.One real let down is that the poaching tray is metal, but coated with something like teflon or MAYBE (probably not) enamel paint. Since this actually contacts the food, I would have preferred simple stainless steel. The teflon doesn't actually prevent the egg sticking, so not sure what the point of the weird chemical coating is, exactly.Warning: watch out for the jet of steam coming out of the top (for a short time in the middle): it's capable of burning bare skin from about 20cm above it, so you REALLY don't want to reach a bare arm over this thing for something from a cupboard.As far as the egg cooking itself is concerned... it seems very reliable. I've cooked plenty of eggs in this, both boiled and poached, and it's really easy and precise.A minor problem is that the base heating element plate gets a bit grubby, picking up minerals like a kettle would. Presumably you could descale it like a kettle.All things considered... great. It's FAR better than a saucepan, for anyone wondering if this is another pointless gizmo. Worth having.

This has been an amazing addition to breakfast before running out to work, I put on 2 eggs in the poacher and make my coffee and then then all of a sudden it rings to let me know my eggs are poached. As a worker, mornings are often rushed so it’s lovely to have a hearty breakfast quickly.The device is incredibly simple to work, you just plug it in, pop your water in the bottom with the cup provided and crack your eggs in the poaching tray (or pop them in the slots to boil). Then you turn it on, put on the lid and it’ll ring when it’s done. It’s also really easy to clean.Although I love this device I have 2 very minor issues. The ringing is really helpful to let you know it’s done, but it’s very shrill like a doorbell and as someone with asd, I would tell a neurodivergent person to be aware of the negative sensory input it provides. My second is the little cup, the measurements for soft, medium and hard are quite hard to read, but maybe that’s just my poor eyesight.All in all it’s a good product and if you don’t mind the shrill sound, I’d recommend it

This is the answer to the problems with eggs full stop.It works really well, follow the instructions and you will be rewarded.You have to be exact with water, so be careful with gauge. It's a little tricky to see the lines, I put in good light on a level table and used a small jug to fill.

Easy to use and produces both good boiled and poached eggs. I was sceptical about how little water is suggested, but even using the recommended amount for medium made the eggs harder than I would like, so for me soft is just right.The big negative for me is on the poacher trays. They are absolutely not non-stick and, even with oil, the eggs stick like glue and very difficult to clean. If only Swan had made the cups non-stick I would have been in 5-star territory.

Just follow the guidelines in the instructions and you get perfect eggs...wished I had bought one years ago
