A good buy and makes a difference
I bought one of these in Feb 11 and had to buy another one 2 months later as my 10 year old liberated the first one for his own room. I suffer from very bad hayfever and during spring and summer even with the windows closed I generally have trouble sleeping and wake up sneezing and snuffling. Leaving the air purifier on low overnight has made a big difference, though I still have some symptoms. It is not totally silent, but quiet enough so that I no longer notice it though my wife gets irritated by the noise sometimes and asks me to turn if off in the wee hours so if you have a serious problem with noise try one of the "no fan" ceramic air purifiers. I also have one of those, and it no doubt helps as well though these fanless ones are tricky to quantify re benefits.I find it also works on bad smells, and can easily notice the difference in air quality if I turn it up high for a few hours. My kids are more sensitive than me and claim to notice a difference even if it's on low.I give it 5 stars, my wife would probably only give it 4 because of the slight noise. My kids would also give it 5 stars. If you are overly sensitive to dust/pollen/spores and not overly senstive to noise this is a perfect choice.

Well built
This product worked fairly well for a while, though I could still see little bits of dust floating around my room in the light when it had been left on pretty much all day. I found that actually vaccuming the room helped a lot moreI accidentally dropped it on the floor after its wire got stuck while I was lifting it up and it burst open. I thought it was done for but I put it back together and amazingly it still worked, though you can't change it from the lowest setting any more, which is annoying but it was my own stupid fault.I was more impressed at how sturdy the product is than what it really did.

Air Purifier on a budget
I was told that this is not a cure and sure enough it isn't. Even in a newly refurbished house and with double glazing closed at all times, the curtains drawn and the door closed with a rug at the base to prevent drafts, I still get a little itch in the throat, but then I need oxygen so it's inevitable. But, this product is about making things easier. I don't notice my room being any fresher for it to be honest, sure I don't open my windows, but it there less pollen, well, yes, technically there must be and to be honest this year I think it's been easier than others. I usually leave the thing on Medium when I'm awake, with it obviously set to low when sleeping (or I wouldn't get to sleep). I can't fathom why the High setting doesn't auto-turn itself off after an hour of use like the instruction booklet advises, which brings me on to another software based oddity: the timer.I bought this because of that feature, but all it does is have three increments: 2h / 4h / 8h settings of which solely keep the machine in operation for those times, not to be able to set it to turn on after e.g. eight hours. I thought that I could get around this by using one of those programmable turn-based plug-sockets which switch on/off whatever is plugged into them based on the timer settings, but the Purifier will only function at the press of a button on the device, not when it's switched on, so that little trick won't work. I would have liked to set it up with a Connected Home wireless smart-plug and have it turn on when my iPhone comes within the geo-fence perimeter of the home, if that makes any sense to you people? There is a remote as well, do I use it, no, it's on all day, so I *might* need to adjust it to a lower setting when watching a video or taking a phone call, but not really. Think about it, it's only got the ability to work in a 20x20x20 area, that's one room, why would you need a remote in that area. And no, that does not conflict with my wished to hook it up to the internet and a smart plug because it's about being away from home and switching it off, not in the same room. Still, I'd need an hour of use or so for it to actually be effective at clearing pollen so I generally leave it on low when I'm out of the house anyway (my rent is all bills inclusive).I will say that I don't like the light, it's a bright blue light for "POWER" and green for the "ION" filter and timer lights, which make it hard to sleep as it's right by my bed, so I wish those dimmed to nothing or just didn't stay on all the time. I face them away and cover the area with a flap of paper, it seems to work.Am I sneezing right now, well, no, but I've taken a pill, a bit of an itch in the roof of my mouth perhaps as it's the end of June, well, not right now. But when I wake up out of bed I have those problems, so I don't know what it's doing at night time, but during waking hours, arguably the worst time, I find it better to have it than not. It cost £60 and that isn't something people want to have to spend unless they have to, but I think I'll be using it again next year, only with a new filter, simply because I will have used it all day, every day, throughout the summer period and they're not that expensive so why take the risk of recirculating any of last years pollen?

Cleans the air and gives a useful 'White noise' background
This is a great item. Cleans the air and gives a useful 'White noise' background when up high but is whisper quiet on the low setting. It looks amazing and with the remote control can be placed anywhere in the room. It says you can set it horizontally but I don't see how the remote would work with that - but then again I've never tried it.The replacement filter is VERY expensive though and the way you monitor it is by the colour of the filter - not too useful. If you buy I suggest you write the date of purchase ON the filter and replace it within three months.

Can't get replacement filters
When I purchased this I found it great done exactly what it's supposed to, having it on low setting is fine but medium and high it's quite loud, after 6 months needed a new filter, contacted the seller who told me to search on Amazon which I had already done all out of stock and on there official site which deems this product useless plus the filters are half the price of the machine.Don't buy!!

Liked it so much I bought another one
I got this as my dog suffers from allergies. After a couple of hours I could notice the difference in the air quality in the room. It removes all dust particles (you don't notice them until they're gone) and it is like breathing fresh mountain air. A bonus is that it also cools the air temperature - great in summer! The highest setting is a little noisy but I find that the low setting is perfectly adequate for my open plan lounge/dining room. The remote control is great as it means you can position the purifier in an unobtrusive corner out of the way and not worry about struggling to get to the on/off switch. I found this so effective that I bought another one for my Mother who suffers from asthma.
